Forums - Nintendo - The 3DS Will Not Be Banned In China

Does anyone know why China is banning video games?

They dont only ban video game. They ban a lot of products from non chinese company. Though, its not ban in the sense of the product being illegal. Its ban in the sense that selling it inside China is illegal. Thats why Nintendo associated 50/50 with a chinese business man, creating iQue.

I hope some day we can get iQue sales figures.  Really curious how much they might've bumped GBA and DS totals.

Damn, China's government are such douches.

I LOVE ICELAND!

Does nintendo also have an iQue Wii or is it only for the ds?

I am a nintendo fan, not a nintendo fanboy

They may be banned in China but you can still walk into the malls there and buy them. As a mater of fact when I was in china last July almost every electronic store and mall I was in was selling 360's, ps3, wii's, Ds's, psp's you name it. And no not the knock off the real and legit deal. They had tons of import games as well from around the globe. If you want any console or handheld in China you can get them easily. No different then walking into an American mall and buying a Wii.

Pirating DVDs, prostitution, bribery, smoking weed and PS3's are all 'banned' in China.  Doesn't explain my >80% of all DVDs sold there are pirated, there are brothels on the main streets of nearly every city i've been to, weed is easy to get, how strictly a law is enforced is inversely proportional to how much money you have and my best mate bought a PS3 in a small industrial city in central China about 4 days after it's US release.

PS3s may have officially been banned but practically speaking, not even close.

Iwata had said on 2008 that they will release an iQue Wii in China. But seems it hasn't been done. On the ique website they just speak about their DS.

But i've been surprise on a videogame store that the Wii they have in demonstration (a korean one, all the wii i see selling in China are softmoded Korean one) have a warning screen in chinese that bear reference to iQue...

But we must first concentrate ourselves on the way to entertain people, for video games to live. Else, it's a world where sales representative will win, which has as effect to kill creativity. I want to say to the creators all around the world:"Courage, Dare!". Shigeru Miyamoto.

I guess Sony and MS will unleash the WTO mafia against China and Nintendo.

Thinking about another part of this news, why buy a region-locked western 3DS, when a Chinese one will be cheaper and region-free?

China's rather xenophobic policies must be doing wonders for their ridiculously large economy, at least, I suppose.

I doubt they care whether or not we fanboys have higher sales numbers to enjoy or not, :P.
