Forums - Microsoft - Another question about the Xbox 360: Wireless Connection

You guys are kidding me right? Now that's simply ridiculous... >_>

My wireless router is upstairs and my living room (where my Xbox 360 will be) downstairs... So a wired connection isn't possible that's for sure!

Oh well, I guess I'll have to sacrifice Call of Duty 4: Collector's Edition, all thanks to Microsoft! ;_;
Wired connection would be easy honestly buy the 100ft cat 5 cable(probably around 40-50$ if you don't buy on sale.) drill a hole through the floor under some furniture or in a corner and then stick it up through(It's what I did before wireless was fully available ^^;) Probably easier to just buy the overpriced wi-fi for the 360 I guess... On batteries.. you don't -HAVE- to buy an additional battery... the play and charge kit will be just fine unless you want it for 2 controllers and will use them consistantly then by all means. At that note I think you can buy a kit with the controller the battery and the charger for slightly cheaper(don't quote me on it.)

In any event the price isn't so terrible in the end..

Yes, I forgot to say that I'm planning to buy 2 Xbox 360 wireless controllers, and buying another battery is my only option.

But yeah, like I said before, I guess I'll just sacrifice an awesome game for a not-so awesome accessory... I'm sure I'll still have lots of fun with just Halo 3 (on XBox Live especially).

Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

My computers like that. We just drilled a hole through the wall and ran a cable through. Cable connection is so much better then wirless.

yup + the controller can be CHARGED with the USB cable IN the PS3's box...

so you wouldn't have to buy a separate play + charge kit either..
Yeah it's great to be able too except I wish the cable was a bit longer.. I normally sit about 6-8' from my TV and anybody who has a PS3 knows it just wont make it..

Play & Charge kits are $20. I believe extra rechargable batteries (the MS kind) are $10. So you'd only need 1 play & charge kit + 1 extra rechargable battery - it will only cost $30 for 2 rechargable kits.

You do have to buy the MS wireless connector for a wireless connection. HOWEVER, I do believe there are other options out there. Check with the MS forums, or some other forums aside from this one - alot of people have done things to get around the fact that the X360 doesn't have a wireless router built in.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

You know, you can use cheapie alkaline batteries and they'll still last a good while.  You don't HAVE to buy a battery pack, especially if it's a controller that won't see use all the time.

Yeah, the included three-foot cable is a joke.  How could anyone ever actually play with that?

This is exactly what I'm trying to stay away from: alkaline batteries. I've had a Wii since last Christmas and before I've decided to buy a 3rd-party battery pack + charger (about 6~7 months ago), I've wasted some serious amount of money simply on alkaline batteries and they didn't last for too long either.

I'm a serious gamer and I play a lot during the week (over 15~20+ hours for sure), and I'm sure the Xbox 360 controller is a much bigger battery "sucker" than the Wiimote (I'm maybe wrong about this though)... So yeah ! I also know that me and my bro will waste a lot of our free time playing Halo 3 on Xbox Live (split-screen), so both controllers will be used pretty much all the time. o_o

I use it for iMacs I am refurbing. I would never do wifi unless it's built-in. And ... wifi can't even match wired. Not right now, at least.

I see. The rechargeable packs are certainly in order, then. If as mrstickball says, the extra batteries are only $10, that's not too bad. Microsoft tends to totally gouge Canadians on pricing, so I don't have a good perspective on what the normal US prices on their products are.
