Forums - Nintendo - Dead Space Extraction players.

I played it on Wii 2 player.

It was really fun! It was one of the only rail shooters I've ever played though so I don't know how it compares to others. The Dead Space feel was there, and there were fun quirky bits. Such as twisting the controller for secondary fire. Great story, fun environments, overall fun! You can also replay levels with no story and added monsters for a gore fest. Lots of fun haha

Also getting it with DS2 is such a great deal. I wonder if they graphics will be sharper and loading times quicker.

The one annoying part is the way you pick up items. You'll be spamming it all the time in order to pick up every secret item and weapon upgrade.

I Own the game and played it to completion. $20 is the most I would consider spending on this game, with $15 seeming more reasonable as that is the number of hours I got out of it. Granted I played through it quite slowly and repeated levels a few times, and also went through the included "flash-comics" to really get the most out of it, you could probably speed through the whole thing in 5-6 hours and see everything there is to see..

While enjoyable, mostly it just made me think how awesome a RE4 type game set in the Dead Space universe would have been on the Wii... I still think EA could have cleaned up on that kind of project seeing as Capcom didn't follow through on the success of RE4...

I don't know what else you are getting for $80 (!!) but you are welcome to factor that into the decision.

The Limited Edition comes with DS2, DSE, soundtrack, and a plasma cutter replica.  I don't care for the plasma cutter, and I lean more towards soundtracks of JRPG's.  So it's starting to sound that $80 for this edition is not worth my dollars.

Doesn't the standard edition come with DS:E as well? All the PS3 copies are "Limited Edition" similar to what Dante's Inferno released to.

The Standard Edition just comes with the demo for Extraction.

This isn't fully true.

The whole first shipment of standard $60 version of the game for PS3 will be called the "Limited Edition" and will include Extraction for free.  After the first shipment they will be standard editions and only include the demo.

So as long as you preorder a regular version of the game you will be guaranteed Extraction for free.

Not sure where that info is coming from, but while preordering the game today, I was reassured that the $59.99 Edition will not include the full Extraction. Even GameStop's website doesn't include it in the Regular Edition info (as it does with the Limited Edition).

The information comes from I work at Gamestop and look at it every day while I pre-order for it customers.

The Limited Edition and Collectors edition are two different things.

First shipment of Dead Space 2 will be called Limited Edition and will include Extraction.  Its in Go Stores on our register and the employee you spoke to should have looked it up.  In fact the regular $60 dollar version of the game in our registers even says when you click to preorder the regular game LIMITED EDITION.  There is no regular version available for pre-order.

I'd say it's fair to call it Dead Space Excretion.

I'm not going to argue the words here, the point is pretty clear. I wasn't given the impression that the "Regular Edition" ($59.99 Edition obviously) includes the full Extraction (even at launch), but the demo.

Doesn't matter either way, I've preordered the $79.99 version.

Your misunderstanding.  The $60 version of the game DOES come with Extraction only the first shipment of it does though.  This first shipment of the $60 version is called the Limited Edition and is different from the $80 version which is called the Collectors Edition.  Everyone who buys the $60 version of Dead Space 2 on PS3 during launch week will recieve Extraction for free.

Secondary shipments of the $60 version will only have a demo but Launch week ones have the full game.

Really man, DSE isn't worth your time, not if you're looking for a Dead Space game nor a rail shooter, just avoid it, the reviews for that game was really off base.

Hey, Ben.  Your post was very insightful.  Thanks, man.  It's more tempting to buy the $60 version when it first comes out since the $80 version isn't worth the extras to me.  But then again if there will a demo of DSE for the PS3, that means there will be another option of accessing the game like via PSN.  I'm willing to take that chance since I can probably get both games eventually for cheaper than $60.  I bought the first game for $20.  Yes, it might be a while until I can play both game for such cheaper prices, but I have far more games to keep me preoccupied until then.  I'm a CAG (Cheap Ass Gamer) due to my current backlog of games.  But LBP2 is a first day buy for me.  Gotta have it.  Thanks, again.

Aww man, I was actually looking forward to this game if I ever bought the standard edition of dead space 2. Oh well.

It's a horrible game.  It's the only light gun shooter that consists of you walking and talking for 80% of the game.  The other 20% of it is fairly solid.
