Nintendo should just mind their own business.

What? No way! They should listen to what hardcore internet-dwelling PS360 fans tell them to do! It's crazy to think Nintendo themselves would know what's best for them as a company, while they clearly haven't been doing so hot for the past 6 years or so.

I reckon they need to learn how to run a successful console business from Sony. If they don't the Wii will get passed by the PS3 in 2015 or thereabouts.

Tease.

Honestly, Nintendo does not need to do anything. They have an incredible lead of 34 million units on their next nearest competitor (~85 million Wiis compared to ~51 million Xbox 360s). The Wii has the most million sellers. The only area where the Wii is lacking is the quality of third party titles and the number of million seller 3rd party titles. At this point, only a handful of 3rd party titles have performed well (Epic Mickey, Resident Evil: UC, Carnival Games, Just Dance).

Devlopers are more likely to take risks with Kinect development (i.e. "hardcore" games). Since the fanbase for the Xbox 360 is already comprised of "hardcore" or "core" gamers, that means developers are more likely to try games like Madworld or No More Heroes, on those platforms. Up until this point, 3rd party support and exclusivity for the Wii has been predicated upon the unique nature of its controls. Now that the Kinect offers a similar control options (motion control). Even with that in mind, the Wii still has a massive userbase and that is hard to ignore.

The Wii will be fine.

And then take notes from Nokia. That nGage just tore up the charts.

Buy out EA. It would get them out of the red to have good management, and it would increase Nintendo's portfolio. Sure the NFL contract wouldn't be excusive (if it survived the lawsuit anyway), but it's not as though Nintendo couldn't find a way to make Madden a hit again.

Then again, I said Nintendo should be doing this even before Kinect came out.

Nintendo should move on to the next new innovation, the blue ocean is now running red after all.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Wii fell not because of Kinect, but because of the holidays ending and because it needs more compelling software

Nintendo's probably has not been Sony or MS this gen, but itself, it has hurt itself by not investing enough in the games that actually sell systems, and instead wasting time on games like Wii Music, Galaxy, Other M, and Skyward, games that will not keep its momentum going

UM going into christmas they had Donkey Kong, A new Wii console (the red one), Golden Eye, Wii party, that right tehre is decent artillery. And they sold bucket loads during christmas to show this.

And that's great for the Holidays, but it needs more to keep momenutm going forward

They need to relaunch the Wii with a new version, either a smaller design, new features or both. DSi the Wii, they need to do that right now, but not because of Kinect.

No point, the Next console is coming in 2012-2013 most likely, so little point in a Wii redesign

There's lots to do with the Wii and a redesign will put it back on track. 2013 is still quite far away.
