Random side note, but did you know the last time Nintendo reported VC sales (October 10th) they had sold 7.8 million VC games. Assuming they are selling at a fairly equal rate over the last 2 months, they would be at over 9 million now.

Take this in comparison to Microsoft's last reported XBLA downloads which INCLUDED all free content at 35 million (reported 25 million in March. This is an estimate), and it's very likely that Nintendo has already SOLD more Virtual Console content than Microsoft has Xbox Live Arcade content. If they are selling old games at that rate, think of how huge Wii Ware will be....

?????????????????????...........?????????

wtf how can 9 million be greater then 35m?

What math system are you using?

You don't think free content makes up at least 80% of XBLA downloads? Free demos, trailers, etc?

You never said complete games you just statede xbox live content, which could include all the live arcade games, their trailers and videos

I said sold, so that you would understand I was only comparing the content that costs money, because Microsoft never separates that out. They just report the total downloads. If you want to say just a comparison of software sold I'm sure the number is strongly in Nintendo's favor. Do you see my point? It's a very impressive showing for Virtual Console to have sold 9 million + old games in only a year on the market. I think people are seriously underestimating the impact that Wii Ware is going to have on the market. If Virtual Console can push so many games, imagine what new reasonably priced games from major developers can sell like?

possibly but we wont know, and for some reason i have doubts with those numbers. If people are constantly saying how strong XBLA downloaded content is, then why would they be saying that if nintendo is selling so much more?

Cause no one knows VC sales except for Nintendo and those who get points on their games? While Microsoft has an easy way for anyone to track it? Personally it shocks me that things are going that well. Guess piracy isn't hurting them as much as I thought. Thought most people would take the immoral route and just download an emulator on their computer.

Also mr stick has xbla downloads at 14 million for the games......

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

I think it takes someone with a very vivid imagination to think that less any more than 20% of the downloads on XBLA are paid software. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it was closer to 10%. People say XBLA is great because it offers a BUNCH of stuff. Demos, trailers, etc. Much of this is free. So to think that people would actually download even close to the amount of games that cost money as free content is a little ridiculous.

The actual quality comparison of XBLA Software to Virtual Console is not a favorable one for XBLA. It's not really a FAIR comparison because Nintendo has a gigantic back-catalog of incredible games and XBLA is mostly built off of original titles, but if you want a comparison, IGN reviews both.

Again, I'm not saying that's a fair comparison, but it is still valid to an extent. It will be much more interesting when there are Wii Ware games to compare in quality to XBLA games.

The PS3 is doing worse against the Wii than expected. The console with the lower install base always has the higher attach rate, but in this case the difference is barely noticeable. The Wii actually takes the lead if you include Wii Sports.

The 360 being ahead with a year's head start, on the other hand, is no surprise. The difference might be a bit higher than I thought.

That is actually a really interesting number to have. So the comparison still favors Nintendo by a fair bit, but not quite as amazing at first. Still to be able to close the gap that much in a year is pretty good. Wiiware is going to be bigger than I anticipated.

I see.  I hadn't seen stickball's charts for the Week.  I suppose I'd trust his to be fairly accurate.  So assuming he's right it would be about 9 million to 14 million.  Not bad at all considering XBLA has been running for a full year longer.  This is still certainly a favorable comparison for Virtual Console, which still lacks original games.  I may make a topic about this and see what people think.

Doesn't mrstickballs games number include some free stuff too though? like the card game that was free for the first week? [or was it day?]

Ah, yeah you're right.  I forgot about that too.  Hrmm, well it's hard to tell then, but suffice it to say that Virtual Console has been extremely successful for Nintendo.

For what US attach rates would if wii sports was not bundled:

What I dont get is the Psp attach rate is ncreasing ..and its selling a lot of hardware.Software sales mustnt be so bad.
