What the Wii's 3.86 tie ratio DOES include is Wii Play.

Which it should... it's a game.

I can understand Xbox and GC ties [this is USA where XB is popular] but WW i remember GC attaining a record high attach rate of around 9 [so WW XB must be lower]

The 13 for PS2 doesnt seem right at all though.... such a shame this sites data doesnt go back far enough to check.

I never said Wii Play shouldn't be included, but I thought it should be mentioned given Joystiq's comment on tie ratios through September:

"The data can be manipulated in numerous ways, but the one factor we feel obligated to point out is Wii Play's impact. Wii Play is considered "software" on the sales chart even though it's essentially an extra for purchasing a Wiimote (the difference between this bundle and a Wiimote without the game is $10 -- should downloadable games count too?). Wii Play has sold between 250K and 300K copies every month since its introduction in the States, accounting for a few million units of the console's software total. Removing that data from these ratios leaves the Wii hovering around 3 games sold per system."

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

Hang on a sec... Wii Play is actually 9 games in 1... so surely the ratio should be huge when it's included.

I suppose what I had heard was worldwide but the way I heard it it was: PS2 - 7, Xbox - 7, GC - 9.  As I understood it the GC had the highest lifetime software attach rate in history, which made sense considering the Gamecube appealed to no one but hardcore Nintendo fans.

the ps3 is selling equel or more software titels of multi-platform games in europe than the 360 does with almost double the userbase

I'm not sure about those numbers, but these are definitely for America only.
