Nice score, hopefully it's meta score will be close to the previous's.Being higher is wishful thinking though.

Even if its not, i doubt the mass consumer will care, when its advertised all people will know is its been getting 9s. 1 or 2 points on metacritic isnt going to change that imo.

I agree. I would honestly hope that people don't refuse a game because it gets 1 or 2 points lower on the metacritic then its predecessor. And to anybody who thinks a 90/100 is "alright" or "kinda bad"... shame on you! just saying.

Fantastic score, don't get me wrong.

But it's 5% below LBP, and I'm not sure I see why. From my editorial (which most people seem to agree with) on making a sequel:

1) Don't spend too much time on development.
2) Change your engine every so often, and if you can, use one that you've developed yourself.
3) Try to keep the team the same, especially if the original was good.
4) Don't get rid of the parts of the original that people loved.
5) Don't try to evolve too much and forget what made the original great.
6) Improve everything, because one bad aspect can bring the whole game crashing down.

1) A little over two years. Perfectly reasonable.

2) I'm pretty sure they made the engine. Not sure if they're re-using it. But IGN didn't even mention this.

3) Team is the same. Genius is still present.

4) Nothing was removed

5) Hell, you can play it exactly like the original, if you want.

6) This is the only iffy one, but nothing's become worse.

And they didn't even try to use the "did not evolve" excuse. I'm confused, but I shouldn't be, because looking for consistency in an IGN review is like looking for an iceberg in the Sahara desert.

they improved the engine a lot!

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Good review, but I think they should rate it after the gamers have created more amazing things.

90 / 100 is greaty yea, but if lbp have 95 why this game have 90 if it is improved a lot ? i simple dont understand sites like gamespot or ign.

gamespot will give it a a 8.5 mark my words

I came here to write the same thing. It doesn't make any sense at all. The game is a blast, it's even BIGGER than the first one, lots of NEW additions than open up imagination to countless ways of creation and gameplay. Pure fun. It's definitely BETTER THAN THE FIRST ONE and it even includes all community levels from the first game ALL DLC is transferable , so there's absolutely no question it is better than the first one and not a half-assed sequel in any way. So why don't you score it at least as high as the 1st one?? complete nonsense. Anyway, the game it's amazing, I love the first one and I'm gonna jump on this like a 4-year old on stick-horse.

I don't understand Lasting Appeal?

Your already starting the game off with over 3 million levels from LBP1 and then your going to have millions of more levels of LBP2, sure not every level is great but were talking millions here, even if theres only 1000 really good levels, that'd still take a long ass time to go through them all.

Should of been a 10.

good score but why does it have a lower score than the orignal?

I just cannot understand the reasoning for this score. Gameplay should have atleast been a 9.5 (would have been consistent with the review), and Lasting appeal no less than 10. There is no reason the game should score lower than its predecessor unless the "nagging issues" are game-breaking or ruin the experience (which they don't according to the review)

Agreed, LBP2 is the epitome of lasting appeal.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

Gamespot will give this a 10, mark my words.

Is there a good reason why it was rated less? Looks way more fun considering the first one had many hard limitations on what you could make that was fun.
