I don't see how it would profit the franchise in any way. It would be more wise to wait for the PSP2 and make it a launch title or something. It would score big. Fans of the franchise are on the PSP and the chances of them getting a PSP2 is higher than a 3DS.

Disagree. In my mind the only thing keeping it off DS in the first place was that DS was significantly weaker than the PS2. With 3DS being stronger than PS2 and likely in the ballpark of all existing Monster Hunter games, meaning asset sharing ahoy, there's no reason to keep it off the 3DS, which will be bought in droves in Japan either way, will likely be bought more in the West, where Nintendo has proven to be an apt partner

Hell, i'd say its likely that Monster Hunter 4 straight-up will go to the 3DS, and the portable and home console franchises become one.

We won't see Monster Hunter 4 anytime soon and by the time it comes out, the PSP2 will most likely be out. The PSP2 is said to be as strong as the PS3.

So launch it on a smaller userbase and much more expensive handheld?

Capcom doesn't make sense sometimes. Although it makes more sense than Megaman Legends 3 going to the 3DS to likely die.

Yeah that makes no sense at all, silly Capcom... they should be releasing it on the Gameboy as that has a far larger userbase and is really cheap.

People don't seem to comprehend just how gigantic 3DS will be. Capcom made the right choice, for once.

That'd be sooo sweet, and finally MH could sell well inseide and outside japan

PS3!, the Monster Hunter franchise is with Sony.

Horrible rebuttal.

3DS is simply a PSP with 3D and much higher pricetag.

PSP2 could at least bring something new to the table since they added that much needed 2nd analog, if they want to really go the route of a new handheld. Not to mention the fanbase is on the PSP. Would make more sense to just put it on PSP.

What are they gonna ask MHP fans to buy a $300 3DS bundle? You may disagree, but I don't think it is the smartest move. Capcom haven't made many smart moves these days.

As for Megaman Legends being on 3DS, the fans of MML who are waiting for a sequel are not young kids, not to mention MegaMan Legends, coincidentally, could also benefit greatly from... wait for it... a 2ND analog stick!!!

Should have just put it on a console.

Playing it on the 3DS will control just as bad as it did on the PS1 and just as bad as it controls on the PSP.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

The best thing that can happen is for capcom to realease a MH3rd port or something on the 3DS, and see what happens.

The 3DS has the advantage vs the psp2. So far we can say that the 3DS is already winning the battle (not saying is over though).

With the hype that the 3DS is bulding, the awesome line up that awaits, and clearly all the fame it has thanks to the original DS, it would make a lot of sense to start bringing the big weapons to it. Monster Hunter already switched from Ps3 to Wii, and it was a great decision....

It would be awesome to see a MH game on the 3DS ;D

The fanbase will go where the games go. The western fanbase is insignificant, and the Japanese fanbase will follow the game, much like they followed Dragon Quest off of a dual-analogue console onto a no-analogue device with the power of the N64. Capcom's got the Japanese market locked as far as what they choose to do with that franchise, and as far as growing the franchise in the west is considered, Nintendo is the better option atm, as proven with MH3's performance and Nintendo's commitment to that performance

Sony would have to make a compelling counterbid to keep the franchise on the PSP2. The 3DS is already sapping the kind of games that have made the PSP so strong in Japan, and if Monster Hunter goes, well that's the end of it

With Megaman Legends, they're just risk-minimizing, though i suppose the bare minimum would be to post it as a XBLA/PSN, but again Capcom's going for something more viable in Japan, while still safe

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

WTF? 3DS can do better graphics than Wii with some effects of the HD consoles!

PSP graphics are way below of what the PS2 could do.

I could agree with you if you had said that PSP2 would have better looking graphics than 3DS but saying that 3DS it's just a PSP with 3D is just laughable lol.

PSP2 could at least bring something new to the table since they added that much needed 2nd analog, if they want to really go the route of a new handheld. Not to mention the fanbase is on the PSP. Would make more sense to just put it on PSP.

Have you ever played the DS? The second analog stick on the DS is the touch screen and it works even better than the analog stick... one example of this is Metroid Prime Hunters, simply the best portable FPS ever!

What PSP2 bring new? Better graphics? Second analog stick? The backwards touch pad? Wow what great inovations... lol Sony have to do better this time if they want to take the portable gaming crown of Nintendo.

Most of the fanbase on PSP of monster hunter is just in Japan, the rest of the world is craping for the game. The 3DS would be an oportunity for Capcom to attract new people to the franchise, like they tried to do with monster hunter 3 on Wii , but now in 3D... and with the 3D fad that's going around...

What are they gonna ask MHP fans to buy a $300 3DS bundle? You may disagree, but I don't think it is the smartest move. Capcom haven't made many smart moves these days.

A 3DS bundle with 3DS could go to $300 but do you still think that a PSP2 with PS3 graphics, HD output, backwards touchpad, the new format of games (maybe like the cards of DS), and so on... it would cost less than 3DS? lol You're going to be so disappointed...

Capcom haven't made any smart moves these days? Like this games:

PSP:

PS3:

Yeah, you're probably right, Capcom took some horrible decisions...

As for Megaman Legends being on 3DS, the fans of MML who are waiting for a sequel are not young kids, not to mention MegaMan Legends, coincidentally, could also benefit greatly from... wait for it... a 2ND analog stick!!!

This set of statement's demonstrate a pure unknowledge of consoles in general, and shows also what a Sony Fan Boy thinks about Nintendo.

Oh and have a happy new year!

XBLA/PSN would be great. MML3 with dual analog would be incredible.

As for MHP fanbase going where the game goes, yeah you're probably right, but I still stand what I said about 3DS not really bringing much new to the series than a 3D effect.

Unless of course they think players would want to tap the screen to attack rather than tap the A button. Dual analog however would be a very welcome addition, plus if touchscreen it important to them the PSP2 has one of those as well, but it is placed on the backside of the handheld. Not sure if it has it on the front as well.

Maybe we will find out at E3.
