Forums - Gaming - Rumor: Monster Hunter likely heading to another platform, 3DS mentioned!

Capcom’s CEO Haruhiro Tsujimoto has provided a brief quote to Gemaga about the Monster Hunter series. Tsujimoto mentioned the 3DS throughout an interview with the magazine, as well as in the quote itself. While it seems as though there was some sort of indication that Monster Hunter will be coming to the 3DS, the manner in which he phrased his words wasn’t entirely clear. So keep that in mind while reading the quote below:

“3DS is releasing, too, so (it seems like) the time to switch to a new platform is coming.”

Given the fact that Tsujimoto directly included the words “3DS” in his statement, it would appear that the franchise will eventually make its way to the platform. I would think that the possibility would be quite likely in any case, but it’d be nice if a clearer quote was given!

Once it sells like hot cakes, Nintendo will once again steal another exclusive =]

More Monster hunter means more awesome, Can't say I blame capcom for combining the most popular franchise with what is likely to be the most popular hardware

I HAVE A DOUBLE DRAGON CAB IN MY KITCHEN!!!!!!

NOW A PUNISHER CAB!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't see how it would profit the franchise in any way. It would be more wise to wait for the PSP2 and make it a launch title or something. It would score big. Fans of the franchise are on the PSP and the chances of them getting a PSP2 is higher than a 3DS.

So launch it on a smaller userbase and much more expensive handheld?

Capcom doesn't make sense sometimes. Although it makes more sense than Megaman Legends 3 going to the 3DS to likely die.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

i would buy it , if it comes on the 3ds. as the 3ds is going to be my next handheld, going too pass on the psp2 for at least a year or 2 until the software gets better in the states, since the software for the psp in the states sucks very much in terms of selection.

most popular hardware?

that seems to be an over the top comment

kinect is the most popular recent gaming HW right now

3DS seems to popular but nowhere near the most popular

OT:

i think they will port MH3RD PORTABLE  to 3ds and see what the sales are like,if they are good then they will continue on 3DS

if not then PSP2 will get the next game exclusive

Disagree. In my mind the only thing keeping it off DS in the first place was that DS was significantly weaker than the PS2. With 3DS being stronger than PS2 and likely in the ballpark of all existing Monster Hunter games, meaning asset sharing ahoy, there's no reason to keep it off the 3DS, which will be bought in droves in Japan either way, will likely be bought more in the West, where Nintendo has proven to be an apt partner

Hell, i'd say its likely that Monster Hunter 4 straight-up will go to the 3DS, and the portable and home console franchises become one.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Due to the fact that CAPCOM already has two of their big franchises on the 3DS (as well as the revival of Mega Man Legends and the hilariously awesome PW/PL crossover) it would be fitting for them to port Monster Hunter to the system. The 3DS is almost guaranteed to be a hit so CAPCOM would want to take advantage of it.

Likely the 3DS was the only reason they commissioned that project in the first place, a console-esque platform that's likely to be more viable in the West than the PSP currently is, while remaining less expensive than home platform development. From discussions i've heard about this game, they have little confidence in it anyway
