There is no way in hell the PS3 is going to sell 11 million buy the end of the year!!!!!! If the hottest console the Wii can't sell 20 million, then the ps3 will not come close to 11 million by end of year!!!

Weel, if they sell 8,4 by the end of this year.
Then they will have 13 weeks to reach their goal, or 200k weekly.

40k Japan, 80k USA, 80K europe.
Well first 2-3 weeks, they will easy reach that number.

Haze, UT3, GT5:Prologues should really move some systems.
Then, if GTA4 comes in march, i expect 50$ price cut from sony, which will drive maybe 300-500k that week.
Then probably KZ2 MP beta will move some consoles.

Time will show, but if Sony confident, then they will probably achieve their goal or atleast 10,5 mln. =)

Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

 

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

I think the only games that will really sell the system are Killzone 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, Gran Turismo 5. I don't think the other, smaller/newer games will sell systems as much as people think. I think the best way to sell systems is a price cut! That probably won't happen for a while for Sony.

I disagree. For example, if two people claimed they were going to bowl a perfect game, and one got a 296, and the other got a 90. Well the first guy derseves a pat on the back and a nice try. The second guy deserves to be laughed out of the bowling alley.

Well they may sell another million before the year is out. However to get 3 months ahead of 360 they will need to accelerate sales somehow

 Yeah well they can ship 14.5 million, but there will be probably aroung 4 million plus on the shelves and in warehouses, because right now they have sold a little less than the 360 had sold at the same time, so I don't see how they will get to 11 million by end of the fiscal year when the 360 wasn't able to do it
