No they have different names. Super Mario Bros 1,2,4...then you have Super Mario World.....but New Super Mario Bros is shared between the DS and Wii...the only difference is that the Wii version has Wii on it. The also share the same graphics and I believe the Wii version was made on the same base NSMB was. The Wii version just has different levels and modes.

So Call of Duty Modern Warfare on DS is a port of the CoDMW from PS3/X360? It's the same title. The "only" diference is that the levels and modes aren't the same.

Or is Super Mario Galaxy 2 a remake of SMG? Same base, and the title is shared...the only diference is the "2". SMG2 just has different levels and modes.

I think that you can call a game "port" when you play the same (or nearly the same) game on another platform. If not, you are playing a new game.

That's not a fair comparison, though. Mario Kart Wii released in April, New Super Mario Bros. Wii in the holiday season.

NSMB Wii shouldn't even be a Wii game, a Game boy would fit it better. Only Nintendo can't forget it's past and move next gen.
