Get Super Smash Bros. Brawl! Best game eva!!!

Is there much of a single player for those kinda games though...like unlocking new stuff and whatnot?

Oh yes! Definitely! Plus there is online, which isn't the greatest, but whatever. Under one options is something called "challenges". Basically, it tells you what you need to do in order to unlock something, and there are hundreds to do! (probably less than 200 actually lol) lots of stages, characters, trophies, stickers, music to unlock!

Pretty much all this.

I've had it since 2008 and I still haven't unlocked everything O.O

lol I unlocked 99% within a month. I only need my 700th sticker. I've had 699 for over 2 years now. I actually have to beat Boss Battles mode with like 3 more characters, plus beat it on insane/veryhard, and maybe even hard. and some boss trophies missing. but screw all that! XD

My god the Gamecube library alone... alot of people will tell you get MKWii but I recommend Double Dash, to me it was more challenging and had more depth. unless you really care about online.

Muramasa, Bully, Goldeneye, Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom, Red steel 2 if you've never played Smash Bros. melee then Brawl will blow your mind

Don't you love how you can't use those golden hammers on the challenges where you really need them?  Boss Rush on Insane lived up to its name, alright...

I'm also a fan of getting the Meta Ridley trophy, i.e. praying that luck will favor you THIS time...

regarding WiiWare and VC. I see that you already have MK64, but I'd personally recommend you wait with more online purchases until you've got your own console as they will not transfer as far as I know.

Other than that, what type of games do you enjoy? (I see you like shooters, RPGs and platformers. anything else?)

I see you like Zelda, so you indeed enjoy Star Fox adventures, and I'd also recommend Okami for the Wii, a very good Zelda-style game that was originally made for PS2 but the Wii port offers wide-screen and motion controls.

Also, you may want to look into Monster Hunter Tri on the Wii, as well as possibly Little King's Story and Zack & Wiki.

Two more personal recommendations:

No More Heroes 2 - Brutal, vulgar, obnoxious bloody good time!

Endless Ocean 2 - serene, relaxed, beautiful adventure game.

They are polar opposites yet equally well made, I'd check them out if you want to try something a bit different.

Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!

mini-games on consoles, cinematic games on handhelds, what's next? GameBoy IMAX?

Eternal Darkness for Gamecube is a must have!

Metroid: Other M, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Sonic Colours and perhaps A Boy and his Blob and De Blob may be worth checking out as well.

I'd suggest reading a few reviews or seeing gameplay prior to playing. Personally I found Eternal Darkness to be somewhat boring.

Yea, I love platformers for Nintendo products.  I like my fair share of shooters, and I have a little taste (it has grown lately) for rpgs.  Before I get to serious with the RPGs though, I have Borderlands and Final Fantasy 9 I have to beat on PS3.

Money can't buy happiness. Just video games, which make me happy.

What exactly is wiiware and vc even...I honestly have pretty much no clue what I'm talking about when it comes to Wii...it was kinda just a we decided to up and buy a wii without researching anything.

also, is there a way you can save a thread so I can come and view this down the road?

Edit: and thank you guys so much for the suggestions, I really appreciate it.

Trauma Center Series.

vc = virtual console, ie downloadable emulated games from past systems... that's where you got MK64 from if I understand correctly.

WiiWare is like PSN - new original games that are download only.
