MH3P certainly is defying the whole 'sequels on the same platform sell less' theory. It's crazy.
Kinda like Call of Duty on the HD consoles, absolutely crazy sales with every iteration.

Lets be honest, MH is the reason the PSP is the best selling system in Japan for some time now. its true, there are other pretty solid game on it there, but they all came because of MH. If Sony gets tehir act together, this success could easily translate into good PSP2 numbers in the land of the rising sun |
It's still not bigger than Super Mario Bros, Wii Fit, Mario Kart or Wii Sports going by install bases (which all have done proportionately better on Wii than Monster Hunter has on PSP). Ratio arguments tend to favor smaller userbases, this works in PSP's favor vs DS, but in Wii's favor vs PSP. I'd say MH may have eclipsed DQ as the biggest 3rd party series now though. It's not past Mario or Pokemon though, so it can't take the crown overall yet. There's also stuff like Brain-Age and Animal Crossing that sold higher in the past, though we'll have to see how they'll hold up on 3DS.
And PSP2's success in Japan likely rests on MH. I'm sure both Sony and Nintendo are doing everything in their power to land the series on their systems.
Yes and no - it is going to start falling quickly now thats its approaching the combined sales of MHP2G. It will beat is figures, but I bet if we included used sales it would be pretty close to new and used sales of that title.

It's the biggest IP in Japan eventhough it's not among the best sold IP?
That's a little weak. It will probably pass Dragon Quest, but it will fail compared to Pokemon , Mario and even maybe Brain Training.

You're probably right, but if 3DS has a RE, a KH, a MGS, a Mario and some other big IPs in its first fiscal year, I don't think it would be easy for Sony to sell systems, even with a MH, and bad sales would mean less chance for future MHs...

Oh, no :( Square Enix said they would release The 3rd Birthday on consoles if it was well received on the PSP... These sales could mean that they will never release it on PS3 T_T
I wonder why people didn't buy it :S
I'm curious to see the actual DKCR numbers. But they can't be bad being at number 3.. And to think some people were actually worried with the first week sales!
