I like movies based on real events and that's why I think both Avatar and Titanic are awesome.

But I have to go with Titanic as it had a deeper story and I felt more involved with the character's emotions.

O_o

Avatar is based on real events? Can you see into the future or something???

I thought titanic was better. The only thing Avatar has going for it is the amazing tech used to make the movie. Otherwise  the story was a typical one. I swear the story in Avatar is based on Planet of the Apes. The only thing I was thinking of when I was watching Avatatr was Planet of the Apes. I guess Titanic was more unique for me at the the time.

But the best movie is still Inception :)

Actually it is based on Pocahontas. Pure rip off lol.

oh yeah! I forgot about that lol

but pocahontas is a rip off of dances with wolfs. And I don't see anything wrong if 2 movies have simiar stories as long as they tell the story well and they did.Titanic is a boring piece of shit.

It's kind of hard to believe that James Cameron was influenced by a Disney film(and a mediocre one at that).  If you think about it, it is kind of shocking that Avatar didn't have I want songs to go with it.

I remember reading somewhere that Cameron started working on the Avatar screenplay way before Pocahontas was released. The story itself goes back way before Pocahontas.

Yeah I forgot Avatar started script development in 1994.  But seriously, Avatar and Pochantas are not the not pair of movies to have stunningly similar plot points.

Kate Winslet >>>>>> That blue girl.

Most people are voting for Titanic, yet it's only beating Avatar by a few votes...

True. This happens quite a lot. Some themes are universal, after all. This even happens in other medium, like books for example (off the top of my head I'd give Jane Eyre and Rebecca as examples of this).
