Yeah I forgot Avatar started script development in 1994.  But seriously, Avatar and Pochantas are not the not pair of movies to have stunningly similar plot points.

True. This happens quite a lot. Some themes are universal, after all. This even happens in other medium, like books for example (off the top of my head I'd give Jane Eyre and Rebecca as examples of this).
