I don't get you folks.  Some of the best RPGs ever made clock under 30 hours!  It's much better than filling a game with fluff to reach some artificial figure, in my humble opinion.

They are young. They have been trained to play through a game just once and then put it on the shelf. On top of that their reason to play are stories, not the actual gameplay. Not to mention one of them is Soriku.

And developers wonder why used game sales are a problem.

If you think used sales are a problem, just wait until Gamefly reaches its boom.

Sounds he's like going in with the same mentality as he did with the original Final Fantasy.

That should be the mentality that every devs should take.

i haven't played an JRPG in a while, this might be the first for a long time

ok so having just watched a little of the presentation for the game I am excited again, thats not MMO that to me has more in common with KH series, but with a cover mechanic and distructible environments, sounds like he's taking a little bit of each kinda genre and making some video game gumbo, ok so I guess I might have third game to buy for Wii this year

TBH I am slightly dissappointed that the game is only around 30 hours. That's simply not enough for JRPGs.

Yeah because the likes of Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RPG and Secret of Mana are considered such bad RPGs.  Oh wait...

All I still would've wished for in this game was the ability to play co-op in story mode. That would have been enough to make this game a huge hit, especially on the Wii.

Besides that I'm actually hyped for this game! You can really feel Sakaguchi put his all into it. It doesn't look like he is holding any ideas back with a sequel in mind. I really want to play this game! And they'll certainly bring it over. So much focus just for a Japan release would be insane.

Looks like a great battle system. The one thing that continues to frustrate me is the wasting of the Wii's IR pointer, watching the gameplay demo it would have fit perfectly yet they chose not to use it for whatever reason.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Oh really?

Above: still the best game of the year.

For a not-grinding JRPG it is a perfect amount of time. For a DQ game it would be nothing, but hopefully it's mostly for story quests.

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)
