And I don't mean fishing rods, but spellcasting rods like A Link to the Past when you have ice and fire. Why do console zelda games (except Twilight Princess which had no magic meter but a latern oil meter....) limit these to arrows? You waste arrows and magic meter the same time you use them which makes you rarely use them at all unless for puzzles. They need to make enemies that are affected by ice and fire besides bosses.
Actually, when I think about it, why do console zelda games have so much fewer magic items than A Link to the Past? You had a cane that creates blocks which could turn into shooting projectile, a magical cape that turns you invisble, a fire and ice rod, and three amulets to attack mutliple enemies in one screen. Why couldn't we have these items in the console zelda games? Now we have zelda games that seem to mimick a soldier in Middle Earth with a lot obscure items who relies mostly on his sword and shield. What happen to using magic to attack enemies? Were magic items and meters just little gimmicks?
