I think merriam webster put it best: activity engaged in for diversion or amusement
That is all I expect from a game. They are all the more better though if they can intrigue my intellectual interest or provide a fun social experience.

Not according to now games are rated by reviewers.

You mean videogame reviewers who long to have what they do be considered on par with what film critics do? If that is the case, then it might explain why games are being demanded to do more than just entertain.
Aside from being fun I also expect the game to be worth the money.
Tease.
Nothing
The ultimate goal is the game being fun. Games can be fun and enjoyable in different ways, but the ultimate expectation is still the same, to entertain. How the game does it is of little consequense as long as it does it well.
I LOVE ICELAND!

There are some games that are considered bad that I enjoy, (fighting force) but there are games that are well made and "good" that i woldnt touch with a five foot pole. (bayonnetta, NSMBWii, WOW, etc.) |
You need others to tell you if Rol is being sarcastic or not?
well a whole new trend started this gen where a game must have a aaa score for it to be considered worthy of buying, it's weird because i enjoyed all kinds of games varying from wkc all the way up to uncharted and gow iii, games to me must have a great storyline, gameplay and no game breaking bugs like las vegas
, as for rpg's they must have explorability
it's the future of handheld

I will occasionally purchase an arcadey kind of game which has no real plot or sense of depth. I enjoy these games and they have their place. Similarly I will sit down for a Darren Shan novel or a Transformers movie and enjoy the action for its face value. Unfortunately these experiences teach us nothing and only exist in the short term. A game with no story is rarely memorable. I want to play games that will stay with me through my whole life and can be called upon for the life lessons I have learned from them. Games are no longer just a petty tool of short-term excitement. They are a true art form and can go anywhere the imagination takes them. Those who do not seek a greater depth in storytelling and interactivity are not required to play along with those who do. There are plenty of Twisted Metals and Resident Evils for those who don't care to experience an engrossing story.
I survived the Apocalyps3

I expect to enjoy myself while playing a game. I have a good idea of what I like so finding these games is pretty easy.
I also expect games, like virtually all other consumer products, to drop in price over time or go on sale at some point.
