For me it has to do with the numbers being adjusted a lot, to a point I just can't trust them anymore.

yeah i agree with darth tigris about being a ps3 fan at the moment makes things boring sales wise. Its true, especially after the crazy year last year, where the ps3 sales really surprised everyone. Thats another point, surprises. Lately nothing has surprised me, ps3 sales have been predictable, so has the wii's(yeah i know alot of people doubted them this holiday but come on its the wii), the 360 is the only console that surprised me this year and even then not that much, kinect was always going to sell well imo simply because its very easy to sell, and 360 has only really exceded expectations in the USA. Not only was there a lack of surprises but theres been a fair share of dissapointments this holiday season as well.

The adjustments topic is also another issue thats become more prominent of late. People don't trust the sales numbers as much as they have before. I mean every dam week u get a ps3 fan shouting "Don't worry next year after shipment figures ps3 will be adjusted up" as if to say the current sales figures holds no importance, which is wrong. And on the other side of that adjustments are likely to happen as they usually do, so maybe this justifies those opinions on adjustments.

The last issue that i feel has affected things is the inactivity of prominent members in the vgc community, i might not post much but i know whose who ;). Theres a number of reasons for their inactivity things such as holiday season, exams etc. but certain members i feel are put off by blatant trolls and thread derailers. I think there was a thread about which game will have the best graphics next year, and it was completely derailed! and whats worse about that scenario is that the thread creator stated in the op certain rules which people clearly did not read.

So i think its a mix of those reasons why its become a less interesting site, however its stil my most visited website by far way above facebook :D and eurogamer.

There are no new members joining, and more and more of the old members are leaving. Yes, it's becoming boring here.

Yes,it happens during the holidays,which is a slow time for gaming news and such. lol

Darth and Carl aren't around, haven't seen badgenome lately, not much news happening and instead there are lots of arguments.

I've been busy so that's why I haven't been posting much lately but I have however noticed that things have slowed down here a bit in terms of excitement but once the gamrconnect 2.0 launches, I suspect everything will be better than ever.

The site has become pretty boring, yes. Gone are the epic threads, the intelligent debates on a variety of topics, not least actual gaming and sales, most of the great users, and really all of the threads that made the forums fun. I hope it recovers, but I'm not sure it can.

Yes, what's the point of discussing over numbers I don't trust? How can I discuss sales numbers if the numbers do not fit as an argument?

Noticed I said 'long awaited exclusives'?  Probably not from your response, but I did say that for a reason.  GT5 was the last huge one.  TLG is not going to ignite sales, though it'll likely be a great experience.

Also, haven't adjustments ALWAYS happened on this site?  Some far more massive than what we saw back in October?  Why is it such an issue now?

Unless the PSP2 starts to work wonders, not sure the console wars partisans will end up leading to long debates about the 3DS.  Just seeing a lot of people in awe of it, without it really having a competitor.
