Great thread Rob, someone on the other thread mentioned that Resident Evil 4 has sold 1.8 mil on the Wii. RPGs are MUCH more popular in Japan. so i think this has a chance for at least 2mil, and will do 3mil in Japan.

I really hope it can do those numbers in Japan. Final Fantasy needs to be beaten into the ground by having serious competition, Square-Enix facing no competition has led to laziness (FFVI-IX were made competing with DQ), The Last Story doing well will be good for the JRPG genre.
So this game shall be the anti-Xenoblade, then?
Resident Evil 4 on Wii has sold 1.8m worldwide.
People need to calm down with the hype for The Last Story, I'm not sure anymore if people are joking while talking about this game, 1 million in Japan seems impossible to me, let alone 2 mil or more.
And there are too many topics about this game, I can count 3 on the front page (4 if you count the one about the "revival" of JRPG)

Also, I am truly hyped for The Last Story but the game isn't coming out anytime soon outside of Japan that is if it's coming at all.

hahaha, yes it woud be. but like i mentioned before, i think it can beat FF12, and FF13. but not FF8, 10 or 7. i think its more important that this game get a high critical reception. like a 92 plus metacritic, and high Famitsu, and western reviews. because Wada and Square will take notice of those things.
the only problem with the western release is that the Wiis casual userbase, are there enough users who will buy this. i think in Japan this is not a problem, but in the west, it could be problematic imo.

I think it could sell well in the West. Many people might buy a wii for it if it turns out as good as we all hope, with Sakaguchi making it, I'm sure it will. Yeah I hope the game kicks Final Fantasy up the backside as competition with Dragon Quest from Enix in the 1990's is what led to FFIV-FFIX being gems, the company had to try to beat its rival. Final Fantasy has no rival right now, Dragon Quest is a part of SE.
it's sakaguchi and it's not on the 360 so the japanese sales should be really good. this is the game i'll get a wii for
