If Nintendo keeps a $99-129 Wii (or Wii Plus/Slim) on shelves past Wii 2 launch, it'll outsell PS2.  And really, it wouldn't even need new software support, NSMB, Mario Kart and Wii Sports/Fit alone would keep selling it to a new lower price market.  I kind of have my doubts if that'll happen though....

OT: I'm pretty sure Nintendo will be looking for a way to continue Wii sales once their future console is eventually released into the world. They have created two huge new and successful brands with the DS and Wii, also Iwata has commented on strategies they have to keep the DS alive once the 3DS is released. So I still think Wii overtaking the PS2 in the long-run is possible.

Well, obviously, :P, but those posters had a higher "attach rate", as we might say, in the thread, as well. 40 posters made 40 million posts in that thread, 10 people made 10 posts in this thread, :P. Also, this forum has more Nintenfans than MS fans, too, yet more people celebrate great numbers for the 360.

Oh, and as long as Nintendo doesn't prematurely kill off the Wii, I'd say overtaking the PS2 is easily possible.

it is because we celebrate too much i mean first it beat the SNES and then NES and then the GBA plus every 10 million we celebrate

the others have to wait soo long to celebrate something that when they do celebrate they CELEVRATE! :P it is like WOW for them while it is like "oh it did, oh well yay!!" for us :) so let us move on to the big celebration that is the 100 :D end of 2011!

I blame Nintendo. If they hadn't made the Wii so successful, we'd actually be happier at each celebration, ;).

100M maybe be out of reach but at least 97M is un the bag by end of 2011.

It's gonna be at least 84m this year and, unless Nintendo does nothing on Wii (no software, no price cut), 13m would be ridiculously low. I'd say 15m's a lock on at lowest possible sales for Wii next year. Reasonably, I should think it'll make it to about 16m.

Of course, my ridiculous prediction is still 103m by end of 2011, :P.

ok maybe 99M end of 2011 :P no actually Wii will sell at least 18.5M end of year so about 14M - 15M is likely next year making wii to 98M - 99M, in January 2012, wham it hits the 100M mark, and goes to sell about 11M in 2012, making it to 110M end of 2012.
