The battle, and boss musics are slow and bland.

Gilgamesh Battle from V and the boss and fight themes from VI are in a league way above the FFXIII soundtrack.

Totally agreed with Gilgamesh's battle. But I honestly think the FF6 normal battle theme and boss battle aren't all that. Dancing Mad is a classic, though.

Personally, I'm leaning far more towards FFIV's battle themes.

I agree I actually thought FFVI battle theme's aren't that good compared to others in the series (except FF12). FFIX has my favourite battle themes as I felt like it mixed the best of the SNES era music and Playstation era music.

At least no one has linked/embedded the songs they think are better. >_>

Yeah, Final Fantasy XIII's soundtrack is great. It's one of my favorites this year along with Bayonetta and NieR. I also liked the game, but it did have some flaws like pacing. Like in Chapter 11, nothing really happens; very little story progression and not much character development. All you do is walk, get amazed that you don't see something linear, then return to linearity, climb some tower, go to some village and end chapter. There were some other chapters that didn't really do anything or took a while to get somewhere. I also would've liked something to do other than fighting. The side missions were just fighting.

Back to the soundtrack, I really enjoyed it. Final Fantasy always delivers on the music aspect. My favorite track in FFXIII is Snow's Theme. And outlawauron, Eyes on me isn't good, imo. My Hands is superior.

Hey, I don't think 'Eyes on Me' is very good either. It's just a very popular track that a lot of people associate with FF8.

To your other comments, I've yet to play Nier, but I anxiously await hearing the OST that has received so much praise.

NieR's soundtrack took me by surprise. Hell, the whole game took me by surprise. I remember bagging on this game a couple of times and calling it average (this was before playing it of course), but it surprisingly ended up being one of my favorite games of the year. The DLC has some fantastic remixes. Hope you enjoy the game like I did.

And I'm with on 'My Hands.' So much fuss for a track that only got played for a few minutes at the very end....and the commercials. I remember that thread where this one guy decided to boycott FFXIII because they replaced the Japanese song with My Hands. It was so hilarious.

I really enjoyed the soundtrack.  Particularly the battle theme, Blinded by Light.

Were there two versions that played in battle?  I remeber a slightly lighter/sharper version than the one Mirson linked to, but the only other one I can find on the OST is Lightning's Theme, which is basically the theme re-arranged for piano.

well it had an ok soundtrack...most of the orchestra stuff sounded synthetic and not like it has been recorded live...the only piece i really like is lightnings theme which has some nice intervals. the other left me mostly unimpressed

For me this game had the worst soundtrack of any FF game

And the battle theme was horrible compared to the old games.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

yea it was nice to me as well.

It was good, I listened to it a lot before but now I'm kinda sick of it D:

What I want from a game.

Gameplay > Story > Content > Graphics

Visual Style > Graphics

Smooth Camera, Intuitive Controls

Friction! When everything feels right!

There are several variations of played throughout many different types of battles and parts in the story. There was a separate Eidolon battle music, boss, etc.

@ Mirson

I remember the thread well. I believe I also posted in it.
