Well, if it's true that it will be a phone, it will recieve massive sales, but that will be more from people using the non-gaming features. If we're talking in terms of actual GAME sales, I think it will perform even more poorly than the PSP.

I expect it to be less successful than the PSP. The original PSP launched with all the confidence of the PS2 behind it. Confidence isn't everything, but it is, to some degree, a self-fulfilling prophecy, and it was a huge benefit in the early years of the PSP. Everybody just assumed Sony would sweep the handheld market off its feet like how they waltzed into home consoles, and developers and media planned accordingly

The PSP2 won't have that confidence. All the confidence is already invested in Apple and Nintendo. Sony has to change the nature of the game, and that's never an easy feat.

I could have written this myself.

Since I didn't I have to ask if you've been stalking me?!

Of course not!

But while we're on the subject of you, you really should learn to put down the toilet seat when you're done. Leaving it up all the time is inconsiderate to women.

Well I consider men and women to be equal so I put the lid down as well that way every time either a male or a female approaches the toilet they have to lift something up as thats the only fair way to do it.

Tease.

Well, we do know a little actually thanks to developer leaks...

  • "HD" screen, no touch, no 3D
  • visuals roughly on par with "early PS3 titles"
  • dual analog nubs, rear touchpad, tilt-control
  • no UMD, media to be solid state and/or DD
  • PSP Go style "fold out" controls panel
  • release at end of 2011, devs have had kits for months already
  • Uncharted Portable being done by Sony Bend

The PSP2 will have an uphill struggle, almost vertical.  I'm not saying it can't be done, but it is going to be by  no means easy.

Among the PSP's strengths was that it had very good Japanese so called 'hardcore' 3rd party support, such as Peace Walker, Persona, Crisis Core, Monster Hunter, Valkyria Chronicles, BBS, etc.  Despite the likes of Persona and MGS not appearing at all on the DS, they are announced for the 3DS.

which means there's no way they'll EVER come out on a psp2???

I think they will appear on the platform, I even think the 'main' portable MH games will be on PSP2 rather than 3DS.  What I mean is that I think this gen for many of these series the PSP was seen by the developers as the only viable handheld platform to release the game on, despite the DS' massive and diverse userbase.  For series like MGS, PSP had in effect a handheld monopoly (I'm excluding the Iphone MGS game).  As that monopoly appears to have disappeared for next gen, many might see that as one less reason to own a PSP2 as well as or instead of a 3DS.

point taken.

but yet, how many articles have I seen stating the iphone, was doing better in handheld GAMING the the psp and the DS, now I'm with you, it's becasue it's a phone the iphone is selling so well, but, that's not what everyone else seems to think, which to me is odd, because if the iphone can be considered a mobie gaming device on the same lenghts as the psp and DS, shouldn't all phones capable of running the most basic of games (tetris, solitare, etc) be considered?

Knowing Sony, they won't allow piracy on it.So hopefully,it will be much more successful than the PSP in terms of software.Hardware...too early to tell.

I think it'll do worse than the PSP.

Above: still the best game of the year.

Nope the PSP2 and the PSPhone (now called Zeus Z1) are two different things.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!
