Forums - Sales - EA: Wii sales would EXPLODE at $99

I disagree with EA. Wii sales always strike me as the least price sensitive. And just as proof, the drop to 199 didn't have that much effect. If the Wii dropped to 149 tomorrow I'm sure it would have little effect. Also, I think most people who want Wii's already have them since it has sold so much.

It's also a blow to Nintendo's business model, which is built around strong hardware profits, just like Apple is. Now if you start slashing those hardware profits, Nintendo's bottom line will get destroyed.

99 dollars is a pipe dream, it took years after the Ps2 was mostly dead for Sony to even drop from 129 to 99. I think 129 is the new 99, inflation marches on.

I'm fairly sure any current gen console would explode at that price.

LOL this coming from the guys who made a NFS game cover more enjoyable to the eye then the game itself.

OT, But I am happy to still see new PS2 systems in stores.. It was a great system and I am glad to see people are still buying them brand new. Unfortunately I have to explain sometimes that most big new games do not PS2 versions anymore like they used to not too long ago but there is an incredible back library.

He's basically bitchin' about EA not having success on Wii and blaming it on Nintendo a). not helping them out, and b). Nintendo having such strong 1st party content.

Seems to me EA should try to create games on par with Nintendo's offerings as opposed to expecting Nintendo to help promote their largely mediocre library.

Nintendo does advertise 3rd party titles as well...just not as much.  Largely because 3rd parties don't put up their big titles on Wii.  When they do, Nintendo supposrts them.  See Capcom with Monster Hunter 3.   Or Square Enix with Dragon Quest IX (DS title but point remains).

Yeah or No More Heroes or MadWorld or Little King's Story or Zack & Wiki.

Pssssssst! He said "big" titles!

These games could have been big with more support from Nintendo lol

I doubt it.  These games could have been bigger, but they could not compare to a major AAA release on an HD console.  If an HD version was released for PS3 or 360 I doubt they could have performed much better than they did on the Wii.

Most anticipated games of 2011:

Uncharted 3,Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Rocksmith

Modern Warfare 3, Super Mario 3D

DUH!

But I feel as though someone clearly needs to see this weeks sales figures (and the past few weeks) when they say no-one is getting a Wii, and that the "well is dry" again now

Nintendo din't cut the price. It's seling around 1.5mil each week. It's up YoY

Nintendo were right; now they have this card to play against the PS360's cuts. Nintendo know what they're doing. If EA wanted Nintendo to listen to them they should have put more effort into the Wii, rather than the abortions and/or afterthoughts that they release...

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

I can understand platform holders advertising third party games that they are acting as publishers of, but I don't see any reason why they should help market a game they have no involvement in.  EA is a huge company and can afford to market its own games.

In business, if your product fails, it's your fault.  Address that failure - don't look to blame other companies.

Hey Riccitiello, I bet if you dropped all EA games by 50%, sales would explode.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

Any console's sales would explode at that price.
