I think it's worth remembering that SE last fiscal year had a record year for profits and revenue, so although things have tumbled a bit this year I think it's more a sign of just them having a 'bad year' where the game they banked on didn't come to fruition. To suggest this one year, which poor results were pretty much caused by FFXIV, is something to worry about in terms of the long term performance of SE is a bit silly. They're still posting a profit afterall, despite having no real 'hits'.
They had already forecasted a weaker Fiscal 2011 then the record breaking 2010 - just FFXIV turned out to be a bomb. Still, SE look like one of the more healthy publishers in the video game business - and next year has new games in their most established franchises - Deus Ex, Batman, Tomb Raider (Maybe), Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy etc - which this year severely lacked.
They could sure do with getting a few Eastern series, other then FF and DQ, actually selling a decent amount of units though.
