On topic i think uc3 is going to blow everyone away, LITERALLY BECAUSE I STILL ONOW A TON OF PPL WHO THINK UC2 CUTSCENES ARE PRE-RENDERED LOL

That's because they are

"our cinematics are recordings of in-engine sequences.

happy?"

I guess those those people are laughing at you now for fawning over video.

killzone 3 can have all the pretty graphics in the world, it will probably still be overrated like killzone 1 and 2. KZ1 was awful, mostly because sony promised the world and because of ps2 system limitations. KZ2 on the other hand had one of the worst single player campaigns for a highly rated game this gen. It's one of those games that gets a lot of hype but only delivered to ps3 fans to like to circle jerk their exclusives.

From a purely technical perspective, KZ2 looked great but was felt short of my expectations. I haven't been following KZ3 but am I wrong to assume ps3 fans will go bananas regardless? Oooh pretty graphics yay.

On topic I think Diablo 3 will have the best graphics next year. Early gameplay videos looked great!

Diablo 3 ? Are you serious ?

Not even close. Many games look better than it even nowadays.

Call Of Duty?

I would rate the campaigns as World at War- very poor, Black OPS- average and MW2 - pretty good.

I think Killzone 2 managed to stay in the mix, mostly due to the fact that if offered at pretty unique experience in comparison.

If you had been following Killzone 3, you would know it looks vastly improved on KZ2 and (shock and horror) has more colour!

Crysis 2

It's hard to trust Crytek, they've made promises and talked up their games before and they sometimes don't deliver. Far Cry 2 was mean to be mind blowing, but it wasn't, it was actually pretty far from it sometimes and it does lead me to doubt their promises with the console versions of the games. They may be the best PC developer when it comes to graphics, but that doesn't automatically make you the best console developer. I haven't really been impressed by what I've seen so far, it might be that it's blandness overshadows it's technical merit, but I can't really decide.

Do you mean Crysis (which I thought really was mind-blowing)? Far Cry 2 was handled by an internal team at Ubisoft I believe.

There is a difference between in-engine and in-game so no surprise that people here are easily fooled.

I don't know what I'm talking about apparently.  Thanks for pointing that out.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

I have my doubts that a non-PS3 optimised engine can out do the first party PS3 engines for graphics on PS3, and I have my doubts that 360 optimised engines playing on a 360 can outdo Sony first party engines on PS3. I also have my doubts that a multiplat can outdo an exclusive on either console. Best Graphics of the generation on 360 and PS3 so far go to [console] exclusive games. I can't see that changing.

It'll be interesting to see Gear matched up with the PS3 heavy hitters. IIRC this will be the first time a Gears game has launched in the same year as a KZ or an Uncharted. So there won't be any "oh it's been a year since that released, you've got to expect it to look better" excuses for anyone.

Footage I've seen of Bulletstorm don't look like they will compete with the big console exclusives. I haven't seen enough of Rage to really say one way or another. I thought Crysis 2 looked pretty darned sweet, but that was ages ago, and I get the feeling Crysis 2 had it's window of opportunity to be crowned console graphics king in 2010. 2011 games have the potential to move past Crysis 2 and leave it wondering what might have been, if only it had released a year earlier. Honestly I think Crytek have dropped the ball big time by waiting so long in the console generaqtion to get their engine into a real life game. The rate it's going the next Unreal engine will be out and it will have leapfrogged Cryengine 3 to remain the proprietary game engine of choice. Is Gears using the next Unreal engine?

Pretty much right I'd say.  I'm holding Rage as a possible exception because Caramack is a programming God with the Crytek guys as a maybe, bit in general an exclusive engine will always outperform a non-exclusive assuming equal developer skill, and in general the PS3 gets far more exclusive engines than 360, hence the tip top PS3 titles do tend to have a slight graphical edge over the tip top 360 graphical titles.

For sure if ID or Crytek do deliver the best graphics in a multi-platform environment they will really have pulled something off.

End Quote Response...

Slightly off topic and directed generally, but can we keep the thread on topic?  Graphics is graphics only, gameplay isn't part of the equation strictly speaking - i.e. the worst game in the world could have the best graphics.

Seems to me that CGI's thread is about graphics only so personal like/dislike of the games themselves shouldn't come into it.  No doubt some people totally hate Uncharted 2, for example, doesn't mean it isn't factually a graphically great title on a console.

Speaking of which, I'm swinging back to Uncharted 3 as being the peak graphical title next year.  Technically the ND guys just seem to be on an incredible roll, although the competition is stiff.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

i ll promisse you that U3 will win at the end.

and the true competition is between KZ3 and U3.

Crysis 2 will not look that good on consoles ,,,same for rage.Sandbox experience ruins it on consoles.
