Forums - General Discussion - The next step in Human Evolution: When? Where? Why?

Evolution is such a slow process I no nothing  will change for at least several 100,000 thousand years. P

'step' and 'evolution' should rarely be used in the same sentence. The reason we perceive human evolution as a series of steps is because all we have to go on are a relatively small number of archaeolgical findings. As we keep filling in missing links, the disction between all the different names like hom sapien homo erectus etc will blur.

Evolution occurs every single generation. Evolution, in the 1st world at least, is not so much about survival any more, its about the naughtier side of evolution, who does it the most without a condom.

Additionally, if there is a 'next step' it will have 3 heads and only one arm

Of course humanity will continue to evolve.  Those citing modern scientific development as a block for evolution are forgetting that as our society progresses the needs of society change.  The smarter more capable will always be more likely to survive.  We easily miss it happening but those with greater intellectual capabilities are continuing their genes with much greater sucess then the idiots of the world.

Think about it, who's more likely to become a CEO, a guy with a GED and a below average IQ or the guy who got a perfect score on his SAT?

Ahh, but the CEO will marry someone, then get too busy with work and their sex life will die, then his wife will turn to a mistress? manstress? whatever the word is for her sexy times

I believe she'd be called an "adultress" or in more popular terms "cheating whore".

i beleive that due to our extreme reliance on technology some of us have actually de-evolved, pretty much explains why there is an increase on chavs who really are lazy and don't like to work, and generally don't like to do anything other than cause trouble..

it's the future of handheld

No, we will take control of our evolution directly. We will actively improve ourselves.

I think natural evolution for humans in the future will likely be driven by the need to adapt to new technology. Natural selection will favour those more capable of controlling the technoogy around them for their benefit.
