Same here, I've put the most time in this game this generation other than CoD4's online. But I only closed like 2 gates lol.

When i saw the Bathesda logo and the epic music i knew that a new elder´s scrolls would be announced, for me was the best surprise of the show because i was not expected it.

i pray every day of this years E3 for this announcement...

Oblivion was one of the best games of this generation and the first game i buy this generation of consoles .

I hope the new engine is a lot better and we can make a a good looking character , bathesda character costumisation is soooo ugly lol

i hope they improve 3 person but i know elders scrools is to be played in first person.

btw skyrim is not a big part of the map, can we expect a much smaller zone O.o , just look at Cyrodiil and Morrowind and skyrim is suppose to be mountains .

That's not really indicative of anything though. Morrowind was nearly all set in the island of Vvardenfell, yet the land area was larger than the area in Oblivion, even though it's all of Cyrodill! Then there is Daggerfall (Hammerfall and High Rock) which is ridiculously and disproportionately huge!

I hope that since the engine is already sorted, they have more time to concentrate on artwork and dungeons so they can make the area bigger and have a bit more variety in architecture. I'm picturing a lot of Norse influence if Bruma and the Morrowind expansion are anything to go by.

i wonder if they ever want to make an Elder Scrolls : Tamriel where its the whole map =O

then it would be well over 1000 hours long.  That would be awsome.

So what area's have been used? Morrowing and cyrodiil. I played those two but never played any of the games before that. I played both on a console, Xbox and Xbox 360.

Technically.... all of them... in the first game: Elder Scrolls: Arena.

Don't think you'll want to play it though; it's very old school (1994) and horribly unforgiving early on. The first dungeon alone is a nightmare to get through.

The game is huge though and covers all of Tamriel. I think it was too big though and they couldn't pack the game with enough content so it got a bit repetitive (going from other user comments and the devs- I haven't played it anywhere near enough).

If they ever do cover all Tamriel again, I think they'll probably try and do it as an MMO and gradually open up areas as it gains popularity. It's the only way I can think it'd work with advanced graphics.

the trainer was..... interesting

A MMO would be a good idea, I wonder if they are thinking of doing that in the future? So they covered all of it in one game but did not cover single area's like they are doing now?

So they have 6 area's to  cover accept the islands. Rock on, I enjoy hearing that we will have a lot more to come. Thanks for the info.

Very much so, I always loved the Elder Scrolls series!

Here's to hope for the size of Daggerfall with the magic atmosphere of Morrowind!

i hope they put an epic city in skyrim

I  looked it up and in daggerfall they go into the hammerfell and High Rock area.  So they only have 4 more areas to do :(
But on the up side maybe there will be more continents on the world, they could go with that angle. Only one continent of magic and now a whole world of possibilities.

Don't forget, in Morrowind they barely covered the mainland, so that's still a possibility. They can also go into the Daedric realms like in Shivering Isles so their are a whole host of possibilities.

I remember reading an interview once where they joked about setting a game on one of the three moons :P

i hope they come up with a decent face generator this time around.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

The broken and irrelevant review system , reviewing games not for what they are but for what we wanted them to be.

Perhaps the review system makes people more critical of games. Oblivion was the 2nd game  I played this generation at a time were I barely paid attention to reviews and i thought it deserved a 95/100. Now a research games on the internet and hear about the flaws and ll it does is make me notice imperfections that  would not otherwise have cared about nor noticed.

So I agree that the system is brocken only because ratings should not affect a person's expectations as strongly as they sometimes do.

Also  still think your explantion is vague and am interested on more elaboration if you care.

Oblivion was the breakout from the grasp of JRPG genre dominance last gen , lt felt new and frish with all that open world ( OMG ) so it was rated  according to that with overlooking many of its serious  issues , some of issues were bad even compared to last gen games so I can't say it was perfect by the time of its release like bannedagain said .. I respectfully disagree with him ^^

Oblivion isn't the first of its kind you might say , true but it's was the remarkable one and many brilliant decisions helped it to take that position such as the early release this gen and being multiplatform .

That's all ^^ , I'll drop it for good as people already begin to see me as Oblivion blind hater XD
