 ok so ignore that they are sony consoles, what that said to me, that the console that wins that gen, its sale grow every year. Therefore the wii will sell even more in 2008, maybe close to 60 mil, then 2009 120 mil.

Nintendo has entirely dominated the handheld console market for nearly 2 decades, but this has changed a lot since the release of the PSP and to a lesser extend capable smartphones / PDAs. I consider home consoles to be very different though, that's why both Nintendo and Sony both offer handheld gaming solutions next to their home consoles, they serve very different pratical purposes.

You should bare in mind it is easy to do that as it only has to sell the same for y2 as it did y1.
It also seems by those numbers that PS2 didn't double its 2nd year LTD with it's 3rd year [unlike PS1]

I think what you should be considering is numbers over percentages/multipliers, because i believe in Japan this year the 360 will have doubled it's life sales, but it is clear 360 is not doing great there. I also find it odd you are using fiscal year ends for PS1/2/3 but calender year for 360.

FACT: with price cut of x360 + bundle of 2 games, x360 still DIDN`T increase it 2007 sales comparing to it`s lifetime.

Anyway, you got one point,
all PLAYSTATION consoles started with low sales in first years. PSone was first console, that`s why it needed one year more.
BUT, have you noticed a JUMP since ~10 mln. to ~30 mln. ?

Craztman you stuck in the past bud, past trends of sony console's realy are not that important to this gen. Sonys good times with the ps brand are over.
I know its hard to deal with, I had to live through the n64 and gc days. Lucky for me Nintendo still managed to make some of the greatest games of all time, so it was not all bad.
I often wonder if sony has the fanbase to last 2 gens of losing, They have taking a beating with ps3, what if the ps4, bombs even harder? Would they survive in the gaming biz, let alone make a comeback to No1. Nintendo survived the n64 and gc because its always gonna have its fans for mario,zelda etc?

117,000 divided by 2,910,000 Million = 4% Attach Ratio. Some big 360 or Wii exclusive may be that low, but i'd doubt it. Aside from like a niche game like Zack and Wiki. Looking for an appropriate game that released in November. Maybe Mass Effect due to the huge console lead. 473,000 divided by 9,430,000 = 5% Attach Ratio, which isn't much better... but the more systems you sell the lower your attach ratio should be for single games as the people you are selling too theoretically should have different tastes.

PS2 cost 300$ till May 14, 2002.
By the March 2002 Sony shipped - 28.68 mln.
So only 100$ difference.

You sir are out of your mind, why try to prove something with strange mathemetical methods when the facts are clearly evident: Playstation 3 rules the world!!! You should have paid attention this year:

It started with Gundam Mosou and Everybody Golf which made the Japanese run to the stores to get a PS3, then came the amazing Lair and Heavenly sword, both highly reviewed and among the top selling games of 2007 that nailed the tastes of western gamers. To finish of this amazing year for Sony they gave us Uncharted, a technical marvel with a never seen before story and gameplay and the Mario-Killer Ratchet and Clank, which totally blew the dissapointing, non-HD Galaxy out of the water. Quite a feat was the fact that all multiplatform games for PS3 played and looked a lot better than on its Blu-Ray lacking competitor X360.

As a gesture of Sony's side they allowed GTA4 and DMC4 to also be on Microsofts console, to keep the competition a little more exiting. Also they asked Capcom to move Monster Hunter 3 to the Wii, since Nintendo could use a little support to get Wii sales of the ground, after all it was a nice compliment of Nintendo to copy the SixAxis movement control as a key feature of their slow selling console.

With exclusives like Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy and Metal Gear solid all on schedule to arrive next year it is safe to say that PS3 will remain the top selling console in 2008.
