Seriously no matter what console u own and no matter what u like and don´t like,  2011 looks to be a remarkable year for games. 2011 a historically year for gamers and probably best  ever. Anyone agree?

Until 2012 ¬_¬

I really doubt that actually, i mean what games would release then?

I was actually thinking about that

on sony exclusive front

Next Santa Monica game
Next game from the creator of Heavy Rain
Agent from R*
Sly 4
StarHawk?

and on multiplat side

Next Hitman

Next Max Payne

Next DMC

FF versus western release

Will we see a WW release for The Last Guardian next year? :S it might be a early 2012 title as of now

In-Kat-We-Trust Brigade!

Does anyone have any actual concrete starhawk info?  Has it even been confirmed?

Man I want Starhawk so badly. Warhawk was the first PS3 game I really enjoyed playing.

I do feel like it's been a missunderstanding though and that Uncharted 3 probably was the game. Wasn't "the new game" suppose to be announced today? 12 December.. well it's almost 13 now so what the fk?

Im glad you posted that, and I do agree that there are very few developers that actually do innovate, rather they refine.  I clearly see this is a problem for you and one I can respect, I guess others are better equipped to deal with the shortcomings of the industry as of late as far as innovation is concerned.  Dont get me wrong, I dont go into video game purchases with a fanboy veil over my eyes just because it says halo on the cover, but im also not quite as disturbed by the industries lack of innovative intellectual properties.  There is one thing I will say about the true lack of evolution as far as gameplay mechanics are concerned and something that games such as call of duty and gears of war may be solely responsible for which is publishers wanting developers to create games the way they want them made.  I know I dont have to preach to you about the costs of development but this is the main reason many games end up being as similar as they are within each genre, publishers fear that if its too unique then it wont sell.  Games such as heavy rain, lbp, flower, limbo, all of these incredibly unique experiences are so critical to the industry at this point because its forcing publishers to pull their collective heads out of their asses and actually take a few more risks.  As youve pointed out its not as if the industry is void of any innovation, its just that there isnt enough.  The good thing is more developers are gaining enough prestige and recognition that when they present ideas, such as thatgamecompany, that they dont automatically get shot down for being too different which is an awesome step in the right direction.

I admit to overstating the problem to make the post more noticeable, there is innovation still in the main stream and there is also a viable independent market. I am concerned though, because video game budgets are growing bigger and bigger, and as that happens the level of freedom to innovate declines.

I don't want to see video games move even closer to the movie industry in that sense. Anyone can see what the huge cost of failure has done to the creative process in Hollywood. From this point of view, moving to HD graphics has actually hurt gaming.

I definitely get what youre saying and couldnt agree more, the movie industry is not the direction the video game industry needs to go.

Naughty Dog: "Yes Uncharted 3 Trailer was all from in-Engine (plus) Actual Gameplay"

http://www.tqcast.com/2010/12/11/naughty-dog-yes-uncharted-3-trailer-was-all-from-in-engine-actual-gameplay/

O_O i think we can all agree this looks to be the best looking console video game ever created ^^

We can not. Against my better judgment I watched the trailer and as I suspected it looks like utter crap. Another step down the wrong path when it comes to game graphics.

The more developers try to make their games look 'realistic' the more we're served insults like this trailer. I see people drooling over the water effects. Here is a tip for you, if you play a game to watch natural looking flowing water try watching the Discovery Channel instead. The water effects there are infinitely better and will be so forever. For Christ out loud! They can't even produce a convincing model of the human body, let alone make it move like something that looks even remotely natural. Why do they keep doing this? All they are achieving is making the game look devoid of soul. Anyone who as ever actually been outside will immediately be able to see how hopelessly primitive this graphics are compared to what they are trying to model.

Photorealism like this is a GIANT waste of time. It will never ever look good, and is nothing but a distraction from the game. If the resources sunk into the graphics of this game had been used on creating a game instead it could have been amazing. Of course, actual game design is quite difficult and requires the ability to have an original thought. That is probably why they didn't bother trying that.

Yes because games like Uncharted, Halo Reach and God of War III lack things that could make it amazing because they focused so much on the graphics.

I agree. They are basically without a single original idea. Upgraded presentation, repackaged content. The same thing that has all but killed Hollywood is now destroying gaming.

Youre right bong lover, why dont we toss nathan drake a magic staff sitting on top of a chocobo while hes busy browsing through his menus trying to figure out if he should upgrade his spellpower or that ifrit summon hes been eyeing for the past 4 experience levels... im not quite sure how much different you would like each iteration in any series to be but apparently you only play one game in a franchise and forget about it.  If every game was like crackdown, then maybe your posts would be justified but if you believe that every franchise that spawns a sequel is nearly identical to its predecessor then I feel sorry for you for being so cynical and not allowing yourself the opportunity to enjoy these games and experience the myriad of gameplay changes/additions and improvements overall that most sequels tend to receive.  Ive said this before and ill say it again, I dont think Ive ever seen a straight guy complain about women only having three entrances with which to penetrate, sure there are different positions and  techniques but at the end of the day men just want to have sex.  Despite a few exceptions, most video game series fall within these parameters in order not to alienate their fanbase but are still able to create a varied enough experience that it all feels fresh and familiar at the same time.  There is absolutely no reason to scrap the core mechanics and premise if it worked so well to begin with, its actually incredible to see these games transform from iteration to iteration while keeping their identity intact.  Welcome to gaming my friend, you seem to be lost.

Almost correct, except I think entire genres are remakes of the same game, not necessarily just a series.

This comment actually shows how little you have ever actually played these games.  To make a blanket statement like this completely shows your ignorance.  I guess if this is how you feel though you should just stop playing games altogether.

Yeah, I agree. It looks like the best year for the PS3 & 360 ever. I actually made a thread on it.
