well the production levels are different and well FF13 had a less grindy leveling up system but it wasn't the same for the weapons. FF13 also had a long development time and a lot of money in graphics and sounds. The battles were boring but not horrible. In those other games there were just things that are horrible but had something fun so they sort of balance out but not everyone has patience to let go of those horrible things.

I disagree I found FF13 to have a very fun battle system (better than the other games I mentioned), music and art design. The story & dialogue was so bad though which ruined everything for me. In the end its a matter of opinion though which is very mixed for FF13.

well, as bad as FFXIII was, WKC is much worse.  Especially along the the storyline front (the bread and butter of any good RPG).  WKC did have a somewhat interesting online component, but there is so much grinding involved that it would kill off your interest long before you could really do much with it.

I don't know if you are a multi system owner, but honestly, imo there hasn't been a JRPG this gen that can beat Lost Odyssey.  Still the best out there.   Demon souls was fun, but like you said, it plays like a WRPG (which isn't bad, but not what you are looking for).

Only PS3

I forgot about Star Ocean 4 International has anyone played that?

Or even some Tales games?

I haven't played them too much due to lack of time but Eternal Sonata and SO4 look very promising after few hours.

Get Suikoden 1 and 2, I think they are on the PSN.

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

Suikoden II is amazing that would be a great choice.

I guess? For me FF13's battles were like playing ff3 or ff5 simple job changes except less freedom by forcing you to have control over 1 character's skills while the other 2 are AI. Most of the strategy is preempted with the presets for Paradigm shift. It could've given us more freedom if we were allowed to change that while paused or even let us shift characters while in battle. What if I like using Death sometimes or change from Army of one to Highwind? The game certain took out a lot of freedom. The classes were also very basic which maybe this was because the AI would be harder to develop if there were hybrid classes. It felt like it had a great idea but fell short. The battles did look great though and I did like juggling enemies in mid air but there wasn't enough options in the battles. But that's just me ranting and I might not even make any sense to you.

What I want from a game.

Gameplay > Story > Content > Graphics

Visual Style > Graphics

Smooth Camera, Intuitive Controls

Friction! When everything feels right!

Get Nier, you'll love it!

Try to get Yakuza 3 someday, too!

Nier is a really great JRPG.

Gamestop has it on sale for $14.99 now!

It (PS3's market share) might hit 30%, but definently not more. ~ Neo

So I heard.  I hope I'm getting this for Christmas.

I own a PSP, and most of my games are JRPGs.

I wanna HD JRPG, the graphics whore in me wants to see pretty cut scenes and excellent graphics.

From the looks of things no one can really agree on a good JRPG, so I'm thinking screw it and I might just get Demon's Souls or Yakuza 3.

Valkyria Chronicles is an obvious choice, even though it's a strategy RPG.

I also enjoyed Eternal Sonata immensely, mainly its fun battle system!
