I think it's funny America has forgotten what France did for it 230 years ago when it saved it from the British.

Exactly.

Also one of the icons of America, The Statue of Liberty, was a gift from France.

We named everything French this and French that for ages. From food items to sex items.

Don't let me bring up the celebration of Mardi Gras.

And don't REALLY let me bring up the lesser-thought-of fact that the English language was shaped strongly by French words. The wayward basic hybrid of German and Latin called English influenced heavily by one of Latin's pidgin tongues, French.

Check every word I said and discover the inherent Frenchness of those words. Clues in the just preceding statement are "check" "discover" "inherent".

 These three posts are fantastic.

Well ,both soviets ,british and USA did a lot defeating the nazis .

Everybody happy ?

About France ,though ,you wouldnt be an independent country if they hadnt financed your little revolution and faced with their proffesional army that was in America the British army .Or do you think some colonnes just scared the hell out of the british colonial army ?Read your hystory books ,without France help both military and economic the States would have never had a chance of getting rid of UK .

Easy for a Spainard to say! Seriously though. No one frightened anyone away in the American Revolution. The US won by annoying the hell out of England and costing them enough money. Even when things were grim the US kept fighting and England got sick of it and felt the US wasn't worth any more blood and treasure to keep. They would of won the war in time. Well kind of. They British Army didn't really have enough troops to keep the colonies under full control. It basically would of been... well Iraq, with liberation miltias attacking brittish troops and then vanishing into the countrysides. Hence why they likely thought it was a good reason to just give up on it. The was won due to the colonies's will. (Or stubborness if you perfer) Also, the French arn't even the same government that supported the US during the revolutionary war... so the US really needs to hold no thanks to the french. In fact the money the french spend on the US Revolutionary War was a contributing factor to the French Revolutionary War as the debt made it harder on the ruling class. So that really was a win-win as long as you consider the French Revolutionary War a worthy endevor.

As for WW2, it's amazing that the US helped as much as we did before Pearl Harbor, since a large portion of the population was against joining the war early on.

both of my grandpa's served In WW2 and they deserve the right for people to be grateful. My great Uncle even died for the freedom of other countries. You should be very grateful that these american men and women served for your freedom.

It comes down to this, would you of won the war without the USA? No so you owe them a thankyou. We even loaned huge amounts of money for you to rebuild back europe. The Berlin airlift for example.

As for the American Revolution. No one is still alive. France helped us out huge and I bet most Americans dont realize we got the Statue of Liberty from the French. We should all know that and relize wat they did.

@ mummelmann -

Using the current War on terrorism to say we dont need to remember wat america did for us is pathetic. I am thankful for you buddies help tho and there service is appreciated and I am gratful for their help.

Yes, and Europeans are greatful for all help received in the war, but it gets tiring when all media focuses on US efforts in the war and puts Europeans themselves in the shade.

Did you know that a small band of civilian Norwegians on ski's halted the work on a nuclear project that Hitler would use on the UK? One of the men, Gunnar Sønsteby, is in fact the most decorated Norwegian in history, having been a spy and saboteur the entire war, yet; he was never even in the military! He gave a lecture on the war when I was in the army myself and I can honestly say that he was/is the most interesting character I've ever come across!

I think that it is funny that France has forgotten what America did for it 90 years ago when it saved it from the Germans.

I think that it's funny those people saying that are the most ignorant, some don't even know where France is.

USA didn't save France from anything, they never came when France asked for help. They came only when they saw the russians would save the french first. russian = communist at the time. They could let French die, but couldn't let French (and most of Europe) become communists. So get your facts straight before saying nonsense.

And people like you also forget what France did for NA even before this war. Check your history!

Pwned...

Your correct, America didn't want Western Europe to become Communists... That was their main thrive to support the Europeans... America had their own values at stake, that is the main reason. The American historybooks keep saying it was to defend the Europeans. It was, but it wasn't their main thrive. That is something u don't see in American historybooks. Btw: The communists aren't as bad in theory. It just doesn't work if u have a leader who is paranoid and kills everyone who he suspects of being unfaithful. I'm glad though that the American's helped us in that war, or we'd have been crushed ... Btw: That Irak/Afghanistan war is bullshit. Oil-war i'd like to call it. And our stupid Dutch president wants us to keep the troops there altough our whole country is against it. They don't want a Referendum cuzz they are afraid of the outcome. Our president is a stupid slave of Bush, and that annoys me!

And just to get some facts straight:

During WW2. Paris had been conquered by the Germans/Nazi's. But there was still a large part of France that hadn't been conquered. Those guys were still fighting for their freedom. That was before America came and D-day had started. The UK was actually saved by a Norwegian guy who was a secret agent. He blew up the factory that was researching the possibilities of making a Nuclear bomb which was rumored to be thrown on London. The American convois supported the UK and other parts of Europe really good btw. Only problem was the U-boats.

Owyeah, another thing: English is heavily influenced by the French. This is due to the war between the French and the English that had occured after the Dark age. As such, a lot of 'chique' words can be related to their French form.

Words like: Vehicle, Library or Ancestral.

All true, the Norwegian you're referring too was Gunnar Sønsteby, who visited the Norwegian king Haakon in the UK in 1942. The king knew that Gunnar had over 20 different identities, so he said; "Good afternoon Herr Sønsteby, and what is your name today?"

"The same thing is going to happen this gen again xbox = last place im already seeing it happening"

Haha, yeah right, you wish.

PS3 has no hope. Even after repeated price slashing, including a recent price drop, it is only managing a tie WW right now. Not very impressive at all. Even though it is now cheaper than 360 Elite and includes an expensive Blu Ray player!

History shows PS3 sales will begin to decline again after price drop wears off.

And Nov NPD shows games are selling like crap on PS3 in the world's largest market, USA.

And Microsoft is the one who can cut prices more in  the future, and 360 is profitable, meanwhile PS3 is bleeding 1 billion dollars per quarter.

Japan sales dont matter, because the Western market is segmented. Japanese dont buy Western games (uncharted=17,000 sales in Japan, HAHAHAHA) . So EA, Ubisoft, Activision, etc dont care about Japanese sales at all. They care first about USA and 2nd about Europe. Most software development is in USA also. Combine these things and you realize PS3 outlook is very bleak in the West. COD4 sells 1.6 million on 360 and 400k on PS3. Now do you think Konami wishes MGS4 was on 360? The 200k or whatever pitiful amount of sales they will gain in Japan (Japan console game sales are pretty much dogcrap) will not nearly make up what they lost in USA.

In the end PS3 only has one market, mainland Europe (UK is more for 360). But all the western devs will concentrate on 360, so frankly I doubt PS3 can hold onto mainland Europe as the generation rolls on.

Sorry to burst your bubble but your wrong. The fact is without most of sonys multi million selling exclusives released yet it is slightly out selling the xbox360 that already has most of it's multi million selling exclusives released. What do you think is going to happen when sony releases it's best games??? The xbox360 is destined to finish last this generation.
