Japan was never going to be humongous for GT5, which is why I predicted it would do no more than 500,000 week 1, 1.1 mill lifetime. I'm sure it will have bundles, especially in Japan. So it will clear 1 million there.

Looking at EMEAA, however, is another matter, and this is the region that shows that userbase difference =/= much lower sales...

EMEAA loves them some Gran Turismo. My 6 million lifetime prediction for the region looks reachable, as does 4 million WW by year's end.


You really think it'll top a million in Japan after a 55k second week? It'll need lots of bundling to even beat RE5 :/

It will get bundles, that's my point. And really, it won't take that many bundles to get it there. It'll clear 600,000, at least, before any major bundling.

Besides, RE & GT have always had comparable sales in Japan, and if RE can get to 840000 in nearly 2 years (with a lower opening than GT5), I don't see why GT5 can't get to 1 million there.


RE5 had a re-release for Gold Edition then a re-re-release for Gold Edition with Move. Capcom is master of re-releases in Japan (see MHP2G). GT5 will get bundled at one point with re-release like Prologue Spec 3. However, it might crawl to close to 1 mil at the end of gen. It's gonna take a long time though.



MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

What kind of legs do you expect? Even if it can keep up first week sales for 2 months it would still be a flop. It is less than 5k...

Great numbers! HD consoles will be close again this week and that trend will continue for the remainder of the season imo. Wii and DS set for another million selling week but it seems aligned to perform quite a bit lower than last year.

Poor PSP...

Something to be more surprised about was NSMB Wii outselling DKCR on DKCR launch week.

how many days was dkcr available?

it came out on the third of december, so one day so no nothing to be surprised about.

I'm amazed at the Wiis sales TBF, but where is DKCR in that list?

guys DKC has only had one day of sales. this weeks numbers are from Nov 27 to 04 Dec and the game came out on the 3rd of Dec so that is why it is not so high up as some might have thought.

Uhh, DKCR and Epic Mickey failed. Some people predicted NSMBW like sales for those games. Haha.
