Sorry, forgot about mario kart.

Still want splitscreen in dkcr, sick of going off-screen. Make the parts that only work for single player into a splitscreen race instead of forcing you (to die) together.

Maybe Nintendo was so inspired by Left 4 Dead that they decided to penalize you even more for staying behind (or allowing you to be a jerk and leave others behind)?

man I can't believe I have never played that game until this year..... thank goodnes for steam. And you don't die together if one person gets left behind, or at least in NSMB Wii you don't.

I miss a few other things.

-Cheat codes: In the time before achievements, you had games that had built in cheats for infinite ammo, invincibility, infinite money, etc.  These are still around, but barely.

-Secret Levels: developers would give you a little bonus.  Beat the game (like symphony of the night) and you could play a different version of the game.  Now, something like that costs 460 Microsoft points.

-being the best in the world: before I could play online against Koji from Japan, I was the best gamer in the world.  Nobody could tell me otherwise.  Now leaderboards and ranked matches show me that I'm barely average.

-$50 games:  I used to think games were expenive.  Game companies thought otherwise.

-complete games: like secret levels.  There used to be a time when alternate costumes, weapons, characters and such were included on a disc/cartridge....and I didn't have to pay to unlock them.

-sitting on my ass: fuck you, motion controls.  I ain't getting any younger.

-cool instruction manuals:  not this five page black and white shit we get, nowadays.  Manuals used to be full color works of art.  I felt cheated when I got CoD Black Ops and got that flimsy pack in "instruction manual".  I know how to play the game but I like reading the manual, too.

I guess I'm just a relic of an age gone by.

I agree with the bolded.

I will add I miss picking my controller. Though we do have some of that now wthl the Wii. Before you could use any of them just about with any game.

yep, dlc simply allows the garbage from points 1 and 3, thank you microsoft for allowing partial games on consoles.

64, Genesis, and SNES games were frequently $70, Neo Geo games retailed for as much as 350 dollars, for all intents and purposes games are actually still cheaper than pre-disk eras

and the last one, remember old pc games that used to come with knick nacks and dodads in the standard releases?  anyway some still print nice manuals, atlus springs to mind right away, loaded with art and such

also the xbox460 has 4 player local campaign in halo 3 and GRAW

Very much so.  You can't give a high five to a person across a mic, nor share a beer or a smoke.

Double drunk post

I don't really care about splitscreen because I don't have any friends I have always been easily distracted by the other person's screen.

Nope, not at all. I would rather have my friend at his own house in his own room eating and drinking his own food than the same guy over at my house eating and drinking my food taking up space with weird smells coming from his body.

Not that I intentionally hang around with smelly individuals, but humans sure do stink and I think online gaming for releasing me from having to deal with this.

Thats one of the reasons I love Halo so much. Every single game has had split-screen co-op campaign, and 4 player split-screen online and local multiplayer.

However I don't think there has ever been a full retail game that had 4 player split-screen co-op campaign. I know Halo 3 can get up to 3-player split-screen co-op and maybe a few xbla can but 4 player is unheard of.

Wont gears 3 have 4 player campaign split screen?

Not to my knowledge but if it does that would be epic.
