Forums - Sales Discussion - Move Sells Over 4.1 Million Units

 Videogamer may be onto something

It's not clear if the figure represents units sold to retail or units sold through to consumers.

Another thing to take into account is the fact that PS Move buyers are picking up more than one controller, meaning the installed base for the motion controller will be lower than the total sales.

So it will be somewhere around 2.1-2.5 unique users in two months.

My guess would be we're already looking at around 1.7m unique households Move is in at the moment (estimating around 3m sold through) and after the holidays we'll be over 3m unique households.

I believe Sony were targeting 4m userbase by end of March 2011 (I 'think' this was in the SEGA leaked document) so they're ahead of expectations at the moment I reckon.

All figures are guesstimates from 4.1m shipped though so who knows what its really like :P.

Grasping at straws.

I think my prediction of "Kinect and Move will crash and burn" might be my most epic fail in Vgchartz history!

Bestbuy too.

PlayStation Move Motion Controller

And Started Bundle just for Christmas delivery.

PlayStation Move Bundle

As this is shipped it will likely simply mean that over the holiday period Sony will likely sell this many units, it sort of gives us an early sold to consumers number as these units will almost certainly be sold during this period. It should also be understood that 1 move does equal 1 user. A minor point but an important one when trying to gauge the userbase.

Take what comfort you will from the numbers but it does indicate confidence in retail for the Move controller and it also indicates significant interest from the user base.

Wait!

Flop or not Flop depends on PS3-HW sales, not alone Move sales, or not?

I mean Sony wanted to step into the Wii-casual-market (if it exists) and not just selling a new controller to the existing PS3 owners. So, imho, it's still an open question.

Nevertheless,

good move sales!
