The new 343 Industries is working on the original Halo: Combat Evolved remake.

This news comes in the latest issue of Games Master magazine “industry chatter” section (via CVG), saying that the HD remake could use the Halo: Reach engine and arrive in 2011.

The HD Halo remake is rumored to launch on November 2011, on the first Halo’s tenth anniversary.

Previously, Microsoft had expressed their interest in a Halo remake, saying that they would do it if it “provides real value to the customer.”

Microsoft’s Xbox & Entertainment Director Stephen McGill believes that a Halo: CE HD remake would be “a good idea”.

“I imagine it’s a good idea. I think some people want to go back to older games and see them revisited and I think a lot of developers want to see that too.”

Someone over at Microsoft said a few weeks ago HD remakes are not the way they want to go.

Even though I would buy it ASAP if they cut down the Library Level a bit

First day buy for me... its one of the best shooters of all time. I can still remember the day i bought a xbox just for halo on launch day. That was epic :D

Sounds very interesting, but makes one wonder what sort of ratings the critics could possibly give it...it originally got a 97 metacritic, which is absolutely amazing...add in some graphics, and who knows, that same original gameplay might just do it again.

I've said this for a while now. Since Sony did the God of War Collection.

I really hope I'm right.

I hope they do. I've heard 343 Industries is huge, so they may be able to handle that along with another Halo game.

But I'm pretty sure it was not too long ago when someone said that remakes "aren't the focus". So if they have started, it's probably been fairly recently.

As for Halo CE:HD Edition.  I am all for this, I could see MS worried about Reach sales being effected so they should make it like Halo ODST with regards to multiplayer.  Treat Halo CE:HD Edition as an expansion pack for Reach.  Great way for 343 Industries to get thier feet wet while they lay the groundwork for Halo 4 as launch title for the next Xbox .
