Forums - Gaming - Bought NBA 2k11- Did i make the right choice?

It's a great game, but there are some things I miss from 2k10, somehow I don't get the unforgettable games I got in the previous edition, I've tried tweaking the sliders to no avail, which sucks because without ever messing with the sliders in 2k10 I got basketball that just felt right for me. And it's annoying how the CPU is superhuman at intercepting passes. Other than that, it's great, and the improvements to franchise mode are worth it

I don't have the game. However, usurping EA's dominance in any sport and sending back to the drawing boards must mean you make a pretty good damned sports game. I've never heard of EA skipping a season in a sports genre before.

Honestly if you don't usually like sports games then maybe NBA JAM would be more worth your while if you are looking to try a basketball game. I tried the Wii version of JAM and while it doesn't feel like much of an upgrade to the old 16-bit versions (and the 2010 version didn't seem as fun for me as the Genesis version did back when I played it in 1996), I'm not really feeling the sports sims this gen (I haven't tried NBA 2K specifically but I tried EA's NHL, FIFA, Fight Night, etc. And I find that sports games aren't as fun for me as they used to be).

Part of that is due to waning interest in sports games on my part (I used to really be into them in the Genesis and Playstation days) and having more disposable income and less leisure time compared to the old days (and thus more options. I didn't have an income back then aside from allowances, present money and games I received as gifts. So once I got my hands on a sports game, I would play the shit out of the game, get really sucked in with the season modes and not get bored. But because I'm not so limited now in what I can play and my leisure time is more limited as well, it's hard for me to have the attention span to even go through one season before wanting to move on to something else. In this day and age where you can get unlimited 2 games out rentals for twenty-something a month, playing multiple seasons of hockey, soccer, baseball, football, basketball, etc. doesn't seem all that enticing anymore.

But another part of it is that these games are much more sim-oriented these days than in the Genesis and Playstation eras. And these have made the games less fun for me.

yeah i do enjoy watching basketball quite a bit. I also never owned a basketball game. I just dont like how the value of sports games drop so fast.

All the EA sports games remain at the full $60 price for almost a year, it's usually your 2K sports games, Pro Evolution Soccer that drop in price pretty quickly. The last basketball game I bought was NBA Live 2005, I played it for almost 2 years until my gamecube died. I just don't like next gen basketball games.

i haven't read a single bad comment on the game (didn't read other replies here if there was :p)
