Forums - Gaming - The most overrated game of the year.

Going by metascore, I'd say FFXIII. I mean, it's not a terrible game, but IMO it doesn't deserve to be in the 80's range. You have a great battle system and nice, fitting BGM's, which is bogged down by a horrible story and cheesy, long-winded dialogue.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

For me it is Heavy Rain. The first half of the game is just boring as hell and there are so many plot holes...

Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy was wayyyy better.

Final Fantasy XIII - The cure for insomnia

No More Heroes 2 - The bosses weren't as interesting as the first

Funny thing is... it actually did put me to sleep...

Hmm....I can't seem to sleep. Maybe I should load up FFXIII.

I swear I would fall asleep while playing FFXIII and wake up 10 minutes later still tapping the X button.

Haha, that happened to me to. I remember fighting that "clockwork" Cieth stone mission with a less than ideal Paradigm set up. So only one of my characters could do minute damage to him. I swear I got like a half hour nap during that battle LOL

Monster Hunter Tri.

Very, very entertaining game... initially.  Then it's a rather dull grind to progress anywhere.

NO! TAKE IT BACK! THAT'S MY FAVOURITE!

Anyway, my most overrated has to be Fable 3, sometimes I think that Destructoid gets it wrong, but I should have listened to them this time...

Most underrated has to be Other M (too much hype)

Don't forget FF13! It wasn't FF, that's the problem...

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Ok i'm gonna just come out and say it....I think that Halo Reach will actually win this title for me.  It just doesn't have the Halo magic like Halo 1, 2 &3, and i'm getting quite bored with it already.

Ask me about being an elitist jerk

Time for hype

Mass effect 2 as well. There were only about 3 missions related to the main story, the rest was all character recruitment and run their errands. Still the best side quests in an rpg in a long time, but I would have liked to get to know more about the, hmm can't even remember what the name of the big 'threat' was now :(

I have to go with mass effect 2. The game itself wasnt terrible. But after playing mass effect 1 I kind of assumed mass effect 2 would be a rpg. It was such a disappointment that they made it into a action adventure game.

p.s. next year at this time i will probably say dragons age 2. From what i have seen so far from that game they are going to mass effect 2 it.

I'm glad someone else is noticing this as well, Dragon Age 2 will be Mass Effect 2 all over again, a watered down sequel that has only fragments of a skeleton of an RPG left with focus on Hollywoodesque action with button spamming, to appeal to a broader audience (like I've explained in other threads eariler though, RPG's are the last genre you want to water down, you're going to end up with games that no one wants, too complex for the more casual gamer and too shallow for RPG fans).

It'll be far more tragic if Dragon Age 2 becomes an action style RPG. The original ME was already an RPG/shooter hybrid. It was an average-good RPG with poor shooter elements tacked on. It wasn't too far a stretch to get to ME2 and it became a true hybrid rather then an RPG with poor shooter bits.

Dragon Age on the other hand is a very solid turn-based and traditional RPG with no pure action elements whatsoever. Jumping to a hack n' slash is a ridiculous leap to take.

Bioshock 2. This game was a shadow of the first. Bioshock is one of my  favorite games of all time. Just as the game starts to pick up with the story line, the ending is abysmal. You could definately tell Ken Levine wasn't involved.

I think I said this too (only I think I was a bit more harsh on the originals RPG elements). But I agree so I will support XD! haha
