Forums - Nintendo - Epic Mickey impressions thread.

I already posted this in the other thread. So far I am at the start of Mean Street and I love this game. From the music, art, graphics, cut scenes, camera and controls. The art and graphics are some of the best on the Wii. The biggest complaints that I have heard from all the forums is the controls and the camera. Some have said the controls and camera are so bad that they stopped playing. That just makes me laugh my ass off. It seems that some have never played games of this nature because for me I have no major problems that would make me stop playing the game, yea sometimes you have problems but all games have some problems when it comes to control and the camera, but it’s not going to make me stop playing. Its amazing hearing some of the complaints about how this game is broken but I think that the person who is playing the game is broken. Lol.  That is my very short quick to the point impression, it’s not much but it’s something.

Good to hear positive impressions. People are expecting this game to be like Super Mario Galaxy and thus think the game sucks balls. I grew up with the PS1 3D platformers like Spyro, so I know I'll enjoy the game.

Nice, this is what I've been hearing as well from others who have grabbed the game.

Can't wait to get this tomorrow... and as a Disney fanatic (and also a fanatic of platformers), I think I may enjoy this game.

If you like the first generation of 3D platformers, then I can guarantee that you will like this game :)

Do you mean games like Super Mario 64 or Banjo-Kazooie?

I played a copy (well before release) in BestBuy and I thought it was pretty good for the 20-30 minutes I spent on it. I think the controls are a little confusing at first (Z/B for thinner/paint cause many problems for me) and the aiming could have been better (may have been due to the BB setup).

However, as a 3D platformer it felt great and the intro level showed that the game has a lot of promise. The graphics were great and I loved the graphics in the cut scenes.

If it wasn't for the fact that I have no spending money (spent it all on boardgames) I probably would pick this and DKCR up.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

I have to confess that I've never played Banjo Kazooie. I meant games like Croc, SM64, Spyro, DK64 etc. I don't know the difference between Banjo Kazooie and SM64.

Edit: Oh wait, perhaps you used both games as an example. Yes, those are the kinds of games I meant.

I LOVE ICELAND!

Yes, I used both games as an example. I played many plataformers in the PSX/N64 generation: Super Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie, Donkey Kong 64, Crash Bandicoot 1-2... Good to hear that Epic Mickey follows that style, personally I sometimes found Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 very easy for me.

Im kind of mixed on it. Its not a bad game, but the problems that are there really take away the fun factor for me (Camera and Trying to paint/thin enemies the most annoying of them). Being that is how I rate all games I play, thats not so good.  I also would just simply get bored at times the begining being the worst [(it was if I was dealing with the meh parts just to get to the parts i liked the most (2D sections)] There is good though. I like the story. I liked painting the walls, houses, bridges, etc. I really love the artstyle (2D sections I really felt like was in the cartoon). Speaking of 2D sections they are probably my favorite part. Its pretty basic platforming but still entertaining.

Overall its decent but I dont see myself suggesting anyone else to go buy it at least at $50.
