To clarify I am very happy with where this generation of Playstation consoles is heading (I never owned a PS2, due to the lack of HD output, wired gamepads, limited audio support, limited online support, etc). But in the past on forums I recommended:
1) PVR/DVR support for the PS3. PlayTV and Thorne are basically what I was thinking of. (albeit I prefer a PS3 with this built-in)
2) I stated I thought it would be great if Sony would release a Nintendo Wii style controller. And Playstation Move is exactly what I hoped for, it can do everything the Wii-mote does only faster with more precision (of course it can also do more as critical in one of the points below).
3) I discussed the potential of implementing anti-aliasing on the Cell's SPUs and I discussed my preference for what type of AA I prefer (edge blurring like done in top antimated movies, so AA doesn't degrade graphics which do not need AA). Sony's enhanced implementation of MLAA does exactly this and the first results in God of War 3 were amazing. Now upcoming high profile exclusives such as Infamous 2, Killzone 3 and LittleBigPlanet 2 are confirmed to take this approach!
4) For the long run I wanted Sony to take the a 'virtual reality'-like route. IMO combining headtracking and stereoscopic 3D gaming (like done with past virtual reality solutions) with the Playstation Move controller (full 3D control) we are moving well into the right direction with regard to such wishes. IMMERSION AHOY!
I am talking about wishes outed publically in yesteryear discussions by me! 8-)
P.S. Sony has released a cheap TV with a PS2 built-in, in the past I stated I would like to see a HDTV with a PS3 built-in and preferable a Playstation eye or two. Make it happen Sony!
I am never satisfied, not ever, and always want to see how things look in the future.
Personally, I'm pretty annoyed because of the lack of stuff in the environments. So few objects. Also, lately I've been noticing low resolution textures pretty much... And it's annoying. I can play games like that but I can't help seeing all those faults.
Well here is the thing. I got my Wii back in march I think, and I played Monster Hunter, Guitar Hero, Rockband Beatles, and random games that can't remember. And I was very satisfied, loved those games, and the last two are a blast with friends.
But, as you constantly read things in this forum, you start seeing things like "ZOMG FFXIII is the best game eva!".
About two weeks ago my brother got a PS3 and I manage to get said game :)
I was really exited, I already had a HDMI cable, a brand new awesome TV, and then, it was a bit meh. The game is beautiful, but it could not top the hype it has. I was a bit dissapointed. But then again, after a week you don't care and keep enjoying the game ^_^
Lucky me, graphics don't decide for me wether a game is good or not.
I am satisfied with the HD consoles graphics. Games like Mass Effect where the gameplay looks just as good as the cutscenes only not zoomed in with whatever face you give it is awesome. I'm blown away by the graphics in the game trailers, but not the games themselves.
You have to keep in mind that while PC's get hardware upgrades all the time (hence better graphics), consoles are expected to last many many years with what they've got, which is a difficult and expensive task to take on. And gaming companies couldn't max out their graphics since no one would be able to play them now, not that it's easy for them to do that either (too time consuming, and their time is better spent on story and gameplay).
The Wii's graphics suck though... it seems closer to N64 than an HD console. But that's why I didn't buy one, so whatever.
The real question is, will we be blown away or satisfied with the next gen's graphics? That remains to be seen.
BOOM! FACE KICK!

Generally disappointed, but that's because of lazy developers, not the hardware. If everything looked as good as Uncharted 2 I would be satisfied.
Eh I guess I'm pretty satisfied. I can't see how games can get noticably better than games like Oblivion/ Gears at this point, at least not to warrant a whole 'nother next gen console purchase.
