Forums - Nintendo Discussion - New Nintendo policy for retailers

As of now, whichever store sells the lead DS lites gets the least (if any) Wiis. This isn't specific to a single retail chain, and it isn't just for the Christmas Holidays.

Nintendo's new policy is: sell more DS lites, get more Wiis. Sell less DS lites, get less than your usual share of Wiis (Which will then be given to the stores that ARE selling DS Lites).

well, I only understand this policy because there are a limited number of wii's. It makes sense to reward the retailers who are pushing their product, especially when they don't have enough for everyone. I don't see a big deal with this.

Expect to see bundles, maybe even discounted bundles of Wii and DSL.

So when do the DS deals at Toy's R Us start Bod?
It seems like they plan to dominate the VG market this holiday.

Perhaps that explains Amazon's special offer which wiped out stock of all their DS bundles.

Looks like a smart policy. They're playing their cards well. I just hope they increase Wii production again in the next few months, even if only by 20 or 30%.

Ooof, sounds like the limited supplies are really hurting the Wii. It's forcing them into prioritizing shipments like this.

There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.

DS advertising by retailers just skyrocketed, despite it not even being necessary haha. Nintendo is smart. Not they get free advertising and publicity. Got to hand it to them eh.
