Forums - Sony - Gran Turismo 5 CRITIC REVIEWS & Metacritic Watch Thread!

Really.

They've spent 5 years hyping it up and claiming it's been delayed due to perfection.

If it's as underwhelming as it sounds. If there are as much problems as I hear. If you can't get a cockpit view for 800 cars... Then really. It deserves the low reviews.

Perfection is a trciky word since people have different ideas. Often perfect can be replace with "complete". PD idea of completeness is to get every single detail right in those cockpit view. My idea of perfection would be to have a PC version of GT5 with Eyenity support with laser scanned tracks.
If they did put in cockpit view in standard cars it would probably look bad then people would have cried how awful they look.

 Some thing I happy about,

Gt5 is in 1080p- very important in sims since you are looking down the road most of the time. Of course this means little if you don't have a 1080p screen.

16 cars on track- road course seem pretty empty with just a few cars on them.

60 fps-  important to have smooth visuals in the corners.

Add that.

CGI, that is the fake review that everyone was talking about last month.

It was posted today though...on Nov 23rd!

The text is exactly the same.

You want to read real GT5 impressions go to GTplanet forums.

rest is just crap.

This game, as well as many others, point out the huge problem with the reviewing system in gaming.

It seriously is pathetic.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Pure coincedence I'm sure.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

PSM3 have an interesting article up

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=277401&site=psm

"'Unless the later stages and the online sections (inoperable at the time of writing) can utterly override the problems - perhaps by loading an entirely new game I haven't seen yet - GT5 is going to be the monolithic headstone for a once-great series"

That is pretty brutal considering they are big PS3 supporters.

I believe I've read some features are indeed unlocked in later stages like damage.

then there is this.

"Gran Turismo 5, then, is not about reinventing the wheel, it's about making the perfect realisation of it at long, long last. And in many ways, as a GT fan, Gran Turismo 5 is everything I've been waiting (and waiting) for.
It does everything GT should, in a GT-ish sort of way, but does it all with a gloss, depth and dynamism never before possible.

it's brilliant: the best GT yet, but in true GT style there are of course a few things I'd change. Does it matter? Does it hell. GT5 is THE Gran Turismo. Here's to losing the next five years in a cloud of exhaust fumes.
