GT5 midnight openings announced!

Over 160 GAME and Gamestation stores to open doors early for PS3 racer

High Street stores are holding special midnight openings for Sony’s long-awaited Gran Turismo 5 tonight.

Around 125 GAME shops will open shortly before midnight across the UK as will 38 Gamestation stores. The latter is offering one lucky buyer per store the chance to buy the GT5 Signature Edition for the price of the standard game.

The special edition retails for £129.99 and comes with a Mercedes SLS AMG model car, USB key, book, strategy guide, in-game vehicles and more. In comparison, the standard SKU has an RRP of £49.99.

The full list of stores holding midnight openings can be found on their respective GAMEand Gamestation websites.

Gran Turismo 5 is the latest long-awaited instalment of Sony’s popular racing game. It’s the latest game to benefit from midnight openings following the release of top-sellers Halo: Reach, Call of Duty: Black Ops and Xbox 360 Kinect.

Excuse me but my copy arrived today. I shall not be attending any midnight openings in the UK, I got mine 16 hours before the midnight openings are set to happen!

I play PC and PS3. The best of both worlds.

In the US,(at least around where I live) nobody is doing a midnight release.

I called different Gamestops and none of them are doing a midnight release because the game didnt recieve enough pre-orders I guess.

I felt like shouting at the guy over the phone... Gamestop needs to plan better around what is arguably the biggest PS3 exclusive game. If they were to plan, then more would pre-order, and a midnight release would be a success.

Instead I assume they have a rule that only COD and Halo games can have midnight releases... bunch of tools.

My friends and I are hunting the game down somewhere tonight.. going to try Walmart.

Sometimes I really hate living in America.

I cancelled my pre-order in the hope of a COD type cheapo offer from Asda, Morrisons or Tesco... I shall check it out in the morning and report back.

ASDA aren't doing 1, that's for sure. Not sure about Tesco and Morrisons but if they do you'll probably have to trade something in.
