Forums - Sony - Prediction: GT5s metacritic will be only 79-84%

i actually agree with this prediction. now all major review site is going towards casuals, hard-core games have no chance at all. The hype and the gt brand should warrent 70% at least.

btw, there are problems in graphics especially the shadows. but my eyes aren't the picky ones. i'm also ok with stardard cars and glad they include that much, but pd should offer more camera options.

i'm still getting it tomorrow anyway.

do you really mean to say GT5 is hardcore... The reason the GT franchise sells so well is because it appeals to casual gamers/nongamers.... Although this news is quite alarming. Still probably going to get the game unless reviews end up being really bad.

yes, i meant that. imho, the gt franchise sold so well before was because  its lack of competition on consoles plus the constant praise/hype from hard-core gamers. Again this game is hard-core, I know a number of people never able to acquire all licenses. I still remember when i first play gt, i couldn't even control the car at all and spin out every corner. at that time, i was like WTF and started playing NFS on PC instead.  with a number of casual racing game available, a hash review on gt5 is quite expected to me.

EDIT: the racing genre has its own appeal to casuals btw as anyone can play racing games. but in GT, to achieve decent lap time, it's really hard and requires many practices to memorize the track and perfect driving skills. people should realize why gt gaves you a very slow car at the beginning of the career mode. and i know people are complaining it's too slow...

What are the odds on Edge giving it a 6/10?

I'd say 1:7

Anyway, I don't think it'll go that low, but reviewers will indeed nitpcik it, just because of delays.

Actually, a Metacritic Score of about 85%, or even lower, wouldn't surprise me at all. Many reviewers are going to be very picky with this one. Unless the game is perfect, some will mark it down heavily for failing to meet their personal expectations. If it had come out a year or two ago, things would be different, but, after the enormous delays, everyone is expecting something special, and a solid GT game will not be special enough for most.

Many fanboys may be in tears by the end of tomorrow.

Looks like I hit the nail on the head yesterday.

I wouldn't say it's sad. The reviews will be overall very positive, interspersed with those who are disappointed for one reason or another, those who didn't give play the game in depth, or those who bear a grudge for whatever silly reason; however, none of that matters as we still get the game, and we can all play it.

So, in short, a reason to be happy, not sad, as we can all play GT5. Finally. We've waited long enough for the game, and it seems it does exactly what any sane person expected it to do, so what's not to like.

Personally, all I really want is a reasonably priced car on the Top Gear track -- kinda sad, I know.

This thread doesn't make sense. Its sitting on 87 @meta now and I dun see it dropping anymore. It may be a close 90

edit: now @86. looks like will never make it to 90.
