Forums - Sales - One Million Units Shipped For Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow!

Konami announced today that Castlevania: Lords of Shadow has shipped one million units in the U.S. and Europe. Konami president Shinji Hirano said the company is "pleased at the positive response we've seen toward Castlevania: Lords of Shadow globally." He also praised developer MercurySteam:

"The remarkable sales achieved in such a short time are a true testament of the work and dedication that went into this project, and we're very grateful to have partnered with such fine talent in the rebirth of one of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc.'s most successful franchises."

Does one million shipped equal one million sales, though? And if not, is that actually remarkable? Personally, I hope so, because this game deserves some consumer love.

So then it's already the 2nd best selling (er, shipping) Castlevania game.  Of course it's also the first day-and-date multiplatform CV afaik, every previous game launched on just one system (and then got ported if it went mult).

Just finished it last night... hell of an ending. Can't wait for the sequel. I just hope all these shipped copies actually sell.

VGC has it 440k sold.

I've yet to pick it up, so busy at the moment, hopefully i have 2 or 3 weeks spare for this and Enslaved near xmas. but i've heard great things about it, and the demo was great actully. and it hasnt released in Japan yet either, so i think that selling 1 mill units in on the cards, theres been very good word of mouth as well i think!

hope they didn't overship it by too much.

I think they overshipped, we will see the game in the bargain bin very soon it that was the case.

It's already in 20 pounds price range in UK.

don't they only ship the number of based on what retailers order?  If so, then the game has decent enough demand.  Also, I don't think it will be fair to say whether or not they overshipped until after the Christmas shopping season is over.

The retailers can make mistakes too and sometimes if there its a good enough discount they order more to earn that discount. They tought "mmm, its a well known franchise, with a gameplay similar to God of War, it will sell A LOT!".
