oh what a surprise. Shred will do worse than Ride.

Should have stayed peripheral-less and simply made a proper TH game after Proving Ground. Tony Hawk's Project 8 Part 2 could have been so awesome.

Well the first tony Hawks on Ps1 were AWESOME.

they should of at least rebooted the old games. Tho Underground was good as well. After that it was an downhill slide.

American Wasteland was somewhat decent. Then the series just went into freefall.

Wasteland was already mediocre.

Why does no one mention Project 8 ?

It's one of the best TH games after the PS1 games.

I adored Tony Hawk's Pro Skating 2 on my N64. My brother and I spent hours with the level creator and just chilling.

Activision seem to have retained a "shred" of hope for this game:

Activision expects "a bigger ramp-up" from Shred's disastrous sales

Activision Publishing CEO Erich Hirshberg has attempted to assuage fears about the poor retail performance of Tony Hawk: Shred.

The game, which is bundled with a skateboard-like motion control accessory, sold just 3000 copies in the US during its first week.

Hirshberg claimed the game, which has suffered from poor reviews and a release date that fell between those of Move and Kinect, would see better sales over time.

"For the first time we're targeting that game to kids," he told Gamasutra. "It's a gift-oriented game, but, that said, we need to build awareness for the game still.

"I think you'll hopefully see a bigger ramp-up as we get further into the gift giving season." Hirshberg also noted that chat show host Ellen DeGeneres had hailed the bundle as one of the top 12 gifts for Christmas.

Shred developer Robomodo laid off 60 staff last month, and admitted it would no longer work on Tony Hawk games.

Only 3000 copies in the US is pretty bad. I don't remember seeing any marketing for this in the UK either. It's a real shame considerring some of my memories of past games in the franchise but Activision have only themselves to blame (poor quality, poor management, poor decision on release date, no marketing). Apparently Tony Hawk was pissed off with the last game. I'd love to know what he thinks of this one.

i think you hit the nail on the head but others factors like the sport not being as big/popular as it was 10yrs ago could also play in, but still believe the series could of been good if they went back to the basics that made them what they once were

i enjoyed all the TH games up to wasteland, havent played the ones after like P8 and would never touch ride or shred

sad to see the series go but saw it coming with ride

why is it so hard for devs to just go back to basics? series like this, cool boarders and other snowboarding games, RE, and some others are falling victim to this "lets try something completely different" attitude

you see other games like the WWE and NFS even the COD franchise havent really strayed to far from what made there games great but they still can put up good meta and sales numbers

crap its 3k in the US only. thats terrible. Even Bad games can get around 15 k. This must mean its BADDDDDDDDD

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

My favorites were Tony Hawk 2 and 4 !

What a blast. I always wanted to play underground but I never bought it.

From underground on, I didn't care much about the series.

nah, Blizzard is fine, Activison is pretty much soley dependant on Call of Duty.

All there other titles have Bombed and pretty much nearly all there franchises are finished.

once call of duty finishes Activison will be left with bungie so there parent company who most likely sell it off since bungie is very profitable but activison isn't.
