The red Wii is tied to Mario's anniversary and comes with NSMBWii. How much did the black Wii bump US sales back in the spring? ;) |
So you are comparing Spring #s with November #s?

It was also when they started bundling Wii Sports Resort for free iirc, so that probably attributed more. New colors tend not to bump sales in the west like they do in the east, that was my only point.

So you're comparing a white console to a special edition one that comes with Mario? Looks like I'm not the one with the worst comparison here. ;)

I was not comparing such things.I was just stating that colours do make a difference even in the West.

Black Wii proves they don't really though. In terms of context, that's far more similar to the white PS3.
The red Wii is a special case, it's tied to Mario's 25th anniversary (and being heavily marketed as such) and it comes bundled with one of the best selling games this generation in America (NSMBWii), and outside the US it even comes preloaded with exclusive games you can't get anywhere else (SMB1 25th Anniversary Edition, DK NES Original Edition). It's not a simple new color revision, it's arguably a collector's item.

White Console=15k increase max
MK bundle=15k bump max
No adjustments needed ;)

DAMN! I WAS GONNA SAY THIS :)
But yeah, he's right, more than just the colour revision!
North America only comments.
Last year PS3 had better Black Friday weekend deals and was still riding the price cut and slim wave. This year it will have GT5. So I expect the following over the next 2 weeks.
This week 140,000
Next week 420,000 (BF week) extra oomph because of GT5
Last year 360 wasnt in the forefront compared to PS3. This year Kinect boost should increase with prime gift purchasing and more word or mouth and people trying Kinect at other peoples homes plus continued interest in 360 slim. So expect the following 2 weeks to be like the following:
This week 250,000
Next week 550,000 (BF week)
Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

Once again, it's not exactly the shell color that's boosting sales there. See also: black Wii.
