Nice, PS3 held off the Kinect launch in EMEAA.

No doubt that ps3 it is being over tracked now, they have no clue what the numbers are. I just don't think vgchartz knows the real numbers of ps3 in EMEAA.  Plus last week numbers where bumped up for kinect adventures.

We will see when shipped numbers come in. Maybe they are making up for screw ups.

I'm willing to bet they are. VGCHARTZ numbers after the fix this last month are not to be trusted in EMEAA.

I kinda agree with this. There is no way they can measure near the accuracy of all those smaller markets out there when there is generally a discrepancy even with the larger markets like the US and Europe.

The PS3 may be available in far more countries than the other two, but most of those markets are so minisule I highly doubt they are making that big an impact on PS3 sales.

I just find it tough to believe that the PS3 (with no new major software except the multiplaform Black Ops) beat the 360 which just launched Kinect, and the Wii, which always does well, especially near the holidays.

Deal with it till quarter reports and the confirmation that the PS3 is indeed selling this good. :)

Indeed I will wait for that confirmation. Because after that major adjustment of the PS3 sales in EMEAA a few weeks back, I take vgchartz sales in this region with a grain of salt. Sorry, but that's just my take.

GT5 will push PS3 near 1 million WW (probably over).

Never. Ever.

Max 550k for GT5 launch week.

You forget GT5 releases Black Friday week.

PS3 did more than 550k that same week last year.......

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

ZOMFG! CODS PWNED EVERYTHING!!!  =:-O  Aren't those old fishes hackneyed by now?

Personally I'd like to see the MEAA separated out, as those seem to be the regions where the numbers risk being the most inaccurate.  Europe, though, is probably fairly close.

UK Hardware

Console Weekly (change) Total
X360 76,193 ( 109%) 5,501,684
DS 41,873 ( 26%) 11,792,528
Wii 34,877 (-13%) 7,224,738
PS3 33,920 ( 31%) 3,456,703
PSP 7,725 ( 21%) 3,858,542
PS2 1,317 ( 46%) 10,175,949
Total 195,905( 37%)

Check out 360 number for UK!!!! more than double PS3 and >Wii PS3. Quite incredible really that the rest of EMEAA overcame that gap to give the week to PS3 by 4K.

Not much to say about Kinect that hasn't already been said given the numbers were known prior to the chart being published.

I forgot about Black Ops as a factor in HW boost for the week. Impressive opening for Black Ops, and what a difference a year makes where MW2 opened higher on 360 in EMEAA, and now PS3 has it for Black Ops, albeit by the slimmest of margins. I can't see MW2 anywhere in the top 200, have I missed it?

Dear God Black Ops is a serious beast!  The PS3 version has a small chance of matching Halo Reach's opening week.

Can anyone tell me why EMEAA like COD so much better than Halo?

I love holiday numbers BTW!

Simply put, COD is the bigger franchise now.

you guys do realize that these numbers are just estimates, and with the 360 and ps3 being as close as they are, it is basically a statistical tie.  When real numbers come in 360 could have won this week.  Remember, estimates means margin of error.

People are annoying that think vgchartz numbers are an exact science. Its only a useful approximation.

Riiiight. So PS3 gets major upward adjustment mainly because of the little markets covered by MEAA, and you regard it as likely that PS3 is now being significantly overtracked in those same markets? I guess it's possible, but it's equally possible that VGC is still lowballing MEAA, while continuing to be pretty accurate with E.

Personally I hope VGC is still being cautiously conservative with its MEAA estmate methodology while trying to become more accurate. Worst thing is to swing from significant undertracking to significant over tracking.

didn't someone predict certain people would be really quiet during Kinect launch?

and it's TRUE! Certain people are really quiet

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”
