Yes, some sales are of Goldeneye to blame, but still, you're looking at it the same way as everyone looks at a Nintendo Wii sales. Let me show you something: http://gamrreview.vgchartz.com/sales/13684/boom-blox/

Everyone said the game was a flop because of it's first month perfonce, but behold: the game has sold over 1 million copies. Not exactly my definion of a flop.

Then let me show these:

http://gamrreview.vgchartz.com/sales/39017/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-reflex-edition/

http://gamrreview.vgchartz.com/sales/23991/call-of-duty-world-at-war/

http://gamrreview.vgchartz.com/sales/4935/call-of-duty-3/

It's true that they didn't sell as good as the HD version, but that was expected, and yet all of them sold a lot over a million. Now just watch it's legs.

i think you are looking at is the wrong way.

there have been dozen of threads from wii fans commiserating on the lack of 3rd party support, asking for the big franchises like RE and AC to be on the wii, insulted about how many on-rails games there are.  in each and every one of those threads everyone rallies around the idea that if 3rd parties would just put in the effort they'd also see the sales to match.

so great, the late port of a gimped MW on the wii sold a million. look at the opening , it had a ever so slightly better opening then black ops which fullfills every wish a wii owner could want and defies every excuse created to explain low sales of certain types of games on the wii.

i've been banned twice of making statements that the wii has a different demographic than that of the HD consoles.  I just wish one wii fan on this site would admit that the demographics are different, cause they are.  nintendo released a stat that said then own something like 85% of the female market and yet if anyone suggests female-centric games are well suited to the wii it's an automatic ban as if that fact of the matter somehow emasculates you.

anyways, it's really here nor there.  i don't mean to 'cause a ruckus but everyone once and a while i just need to vent.

Yeah Black Ops had everything we hoped for and it had a great posibility of selling a lot, but Activision made the mistake of releasing Goldeneye just a week prior, it added local multiplayer to that game, made it exclusive and place some advertisement behind it...

The result: very good sales for a core third party game that cut the possible sales of another core third party game of the exact same genre (Cod BO), just look at the sales of goldeneye, yes its not in the million of copies range, but it had a very strong first week (the same as Castlevania on 360 and PS3 combined) and way higher than MW and W@W.

Their its a audience for this kind of games, its just not big enough to support 2 good games of the same genre released too close to each other, that's why I think Sega did the right thing by delaying Conduit 2 and not throw it to be slaughter by Goldeneye or Cod BO.

Good Glodeneye sales!

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

I'm so glad CoD is doing so good!

The Wii version must disappoint some people (especially those who were expecting it to outsell the PS3 and the 360 version lawl lawl lawl!)

Who on earth believed the Wii version of COD would outsell the HD versions?? I want some of what they are smokin..

Though I do think the Wii version will have far better legs than most people realize.

i don't particularly remember anyone (seriously) claiming that the wii version of CoD would outsell the HD versions but i could easily drag up a good 2-3 dozen threads from nintendo fans claiming that 3rd parties are at fault for their low sales and that if they just made a high quality game that wasn't a late port that the "core" would buy wii games.

so here is CoD BO, all of the reviews say is very high quality, not gimped, not late....where are the sales?  never mind outselling the HD version, less than 20k is just miserable.  I guess those stellar goldeneye sales must be to blame...

Boom Blox had great legs because it was selling at a price point of 19,99$ or something like that. What a company wants is to sell a lot first week because that's when they make the most money per unit. It's not only about the # of sales.

I think we might be overtracking 360 this week. It saw an 86% boost in Australia but I don't think Kinect has launched there yet, unless the boost is purely because of Black Ops.

Proudest Platinums:
1. Gran Turismo 5
2. Persona 4 Arena
3. Wipeout HD
4. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
5. Super Street Fighter 4

Great sales!

Black Ops boosted PS3 and X360 sales and Kinect did a very good job too.

2012 - Top 3 [so far]
