Forums - Nintendo - A Thread on Epic Adventures and Disney Magic

So far I am at the start of Mean Street and I love this game. From the music, art, graphics, cut scenes, camera and controls. The art and graphics are some of the best on the Wii. The biggest complaints that I have heard from all the forums is the controls and the camera. Some have said the controls and camera are so bad that they stopped playing. That just makes me laugh my ass off. It seems that some have never played games of this nature because for me I have no major problems that would make me stop playing the game, yea sometimes you have problems but all games have some problems when it comes to control and the camera, but it’s not going to make me stop playing. Its amazing hearing some of the complaints about how this game is broken but I think that the person who is playing the game is broken. Lol.  That is my very short quick to the point impression, it’s not much but it’s something.

Mean Street was a bit of a fetch-quest hassle, but i'm still thoroughly enjoying myself.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Get used to "Thru the Mirror"

Actually, I really enjoy these 2D sections. There's just something about them that is so fundamentally fun. I can't quite put my finger on it.

Every time I find myself in a new area, I tell myself that "this is the best part yet! I doubt anything else will be this much fun.", and of course I enter a new area and I'm blown away (currently in Venture Land, based off Pirates of the Carribean/Jungle Cruise).

So... just beat Lonesome Manor... and that's 0/3 Disney friends put back together (I was closest with Daisy though! Only need one more part...) hopefully I'll do better on my next playthrough (sorry, but I'm not spending 1,000 a part on those guys ). ^_^

So... out of the five worlds I've been to so far, here's how I'd rate them:

1. Gremlin Village/Small World 4/5

Yeah, what an incredible way to start things off. It's the perfect settng for a "Disneyland gone wrong" scenerio like in Epic Mickey. There's just something unsettling going through this world. "Small World" is synonymous with perfection and harmony, and seeing the ride all infested and ruined... very intriguing. Also, the Clock Tower was the perfect choice for the boss.

Gremlin Village (the "hub") was nice. Nothing mind blowing, but it was still a neat area.

2. OsTown/MickeyJunk Mountain 3/5

OsTown is pretty neat I suppose. There's really nothing going on, but that's what ya get when you're in a Hub world  within a Hub world. Still, the parallels to Toon Town is great. I would love to see this area before the Thinner Disaster.

MickeyJunk Mountain is unique because it's not really based off of anything in Disneyland (Matterhorn maybe? Even if it was, the similarities end with the mountain part). It is pretty great to see all of the Mickey stuff make up this place. Heck, I'd stop just to look at a giant Mickey lunchbox or a Minnie SNES cartridge. Still... it sort of lacked the magic of other levels. Still, the atmosphere was pretty great.

3. Tomorrow City 4/5

This world doesn't really have a hub area, and I'm okay with that. At first I was afraid that this land was going to be dominated by Tron... but to my pleasant surprise it was like walking in a giant Space Mountain (which is always a good thing). The lights, the sounds, the atmophere of it all... it was really that always out-of-reach futuristic utopia that I grew up with.

4. VentureLand/Tortooga/Skull Island 5/5

Man, I just love these areas! VentureLand, the hub area, looks great with its mixture of Pirates of the Carribean, Jungle Cruise, and Tiki Room influences.

The rest of the area is definitely more "Pirates" influenced, but that's only a good thing. The port town of Tortooga, the firey corridor (I was all smiles during this part! Fantastic addition.), Skull Island, and the Jolly Roger were all wonderful to explore. Like the ride itself, this world still has all of that Disney magic, but it much darker than the usual Disney cartoons. Good fun!

5. Bog Easy/Lonesome Manor 4/5

So... Bog Easy is my favorite Hub area in all of Epic Mickey. I just love the feel of this area. Ironically enough, it's mostly influenced by the beginning of Pirates of the Carribean (before you go back in time), but with a spookier twist. It's absolutely perfect.

Lonesome Manor was actually somewhat of a disappointment. I have to say though, that The Haunted Mansion is my favorite ride ever. I know everything there is to know, and I was really hoping that like VentureLand, Lonesome Manor would have much of the same atmosphere as the ride. Unfortunately, the world is influenced by the cartoon "Lonesome Ghosts", so the tone of the world is much lighter than the frightfully fun Haunted Mansion. Still, the Manor was a lot of fun to go through and play. I just would have loved to seen a more spooky and ominous world.

I managed to put fix Goofy and Daisy, but not Donald. Finding just one of his parts was a pain in the ass. >_>

Did ya catch that lil' reference to a certain Nintendo franchise at Tortooga?

It's not safe to go alone! Take this!

Yeah... that was soooo awesome.

So you only have that one shot at fixing them (for free) per playthrough?

balls

On most occassions, once you leave a non-hub area, you can't go back. Kinda lame...

I don't think it's possible to fix them for free.

I could be wrong, though.

.....

I assumed i had the chance to go back everywhere once i was far enough in, kinda like in Other M or something, that they were just shutting the way behind me for now so i could keep moving in the right direction but would eventually open it all up. I didn't know these areas became utterly inaccessible
